And we know the auto has been 2 to 3 tenths faster than the manual so I’m not sure how they got the same times for both. Maybe we will see some extensive testing soon.

I agree that 12.2 for a M6 looks like a hero run

The publication haven't really gotten representative time for the SS A8 however. Our fast list has an average of 12.0 to 12.1 depending how you slice it (see link).

As you mention, M6 are 2 to 3 tenths slower so its possible. Even Chevy rates the M6 as 2 tenths slower

I heard the A8 was a tad quicker than the new A10

Given that the new SS A10 has a lower torque rating than the A8, there may be more torque management at play, so a slightly slower time wouldn’t surprise me.

It's because the SS A10 is a 80 series rated for 80 newtons. The A8 is a 90 series just like the A10 in the ZL1. It has been mentioned the SS A10 shifts much firmer then the A8 so I am not sure there is more TM at play.

It may be a long time before we find out. These 19’s are just not selling at all. The one acceleration video I did see sounded like a lot of torque management on the 1-2, 2-3, and even the 3-4 didn’t sound as quick as the A8. This too is the reason I think the new mustang is a hair faster stock. They have a drag mode that eliminates all the torque management. If we had that option, we would be so much faster stock

That doesn’t make sense IMO. Its the same LT1 motor, making the exact same torque as it was mated to the A8 the past few years. Putting a weaker rated transmission (10L80) behind the same exact LT1 necessitates more torque management, not less. Otherwise the odds of this newer transmission making it to the end of the warranty period gets worse. Just doesn’t sound like something GM would do, especially given the A8 torque converter warranty disaster still underway...

I'm not so sure about that...both the 80 and 90 series have much more capacity far as handiling power then a stock LT1 can dish out.

The torque management is in place to keep the car in control and to protect the trans. If GM shipped the A8's out with the ability to turn it all off, there would be a lot of 6th gen Camaros ending in the ditch with the run flat tires. The car will get sideways on a gear change with No TM, compared to being on, where the ECM will pull torque on the shift so the car will quickly recover from spinning the tires.

I have spent a lot of time over the last year tuning and playing with the TM. Imo the TM is harder on the transmission in some ways....especially when you mod up and increase power. The TCM needs tuned properly. I'm not saying you should turn it all off, but it needs to be reduced significantly. The shift time, inertia, and pressure all needs adjustment as well.

I wonder how much different in stall speed the torque converter is? I think that will make the best difference, and the fact if it has to do another WOT shift in the 1/4mile. Well the biggest difference might just be weather the TCM is programmed to shift at the correct WOT shift speed. My A8 short shifts, especially on the 1-2 at about 5500rpms.

That A10 pass is so close to my stock A8 pass of 12.04@115 a few years back. Great pass

Thanks. If I had started my diet last month instead of next month......😁😁
Car was pretty consistent. Ran 12.00, 12.01, and 12.03. I tried leaving at 1,500 rpm and the 60’ slowed to a 1.82 from a 1.80 on the 12.03 pass.
