I've been a Camaro guy since I was a kid. The only modern cars I've owned (car was less than three years old at the time I purchased it) have been Camaros. I appreciate the 1st gen Mustangs, and I think a few of the other generations look nice. However, I would never buy a Mustang. They just don't appeal to me like Camaros do.

Challenger / Charger is even more of a rental car than a Mustang.

If I was shopping for a coupe - probably same thing, I would be looking at new 1LE vs. 2-4 year old M2, M4 and 911. But a Mustang would not be in the mix. |

I was looking for a car that i could track and daily drive. I didn't drive the Mustang, but what sold me on the Camaro was it's track focus backed by a warranty that openly covered tracked cars. |

I bought a used 2015 GT 6 speed auto back in 2016. It was a renter with 35k miles.
It was fine up high but just never did much for me and sold it 7 months later for a used 2013 C6 and modded it. Nite and day diff on power and handling. It needed a new A/C and head liner was falling down. I guess a 2018GT and up would have been better. But still the low end grunt of the C6 and my LT1 is much better. |

For me it was because I much prefer the look of the 2016-2018 6th Gen Camaro.
A plus that I didn't pay attention to until after I bought mine is that there are 50 Mustangs to every 1 Camaro around where I live. I don't like driving the same thing so many others drives. |

its funny to read all of the comments about the low end. my friend with a 18 m6 gt always makes fun of me for driving my car like a mack truck. lugging it around. for normal driving the car honestly doesn't need much more than about 1500 rpm. he tells me to drive it like a sports car, which i do often, but doing so results in 75+ mph very quickly, which is not enjoyable in town and on busy roads. i have a bolt on/ethanol 18 1LE btw.
silly mustang boys.

I had the chance to drive a 2020 Mustang GT PP1 M6 for a friend as he couldn't drive a stick at the time, and it just makes me appreciate the Camaro more.
The main thing I don't like is Getrash MT82. It feels like a family car manual transmission, while the TR-6060 feels a lot like my RX-8's manual transmission with mechanical feels, which is what I want in a sports car. That's not to mention the problems people have with Getrash. The steering wheel is also a bit busy with buttons. I find the cruise control to be hard to use versus the Camaro. I also like the fact that Camaro offers a HUD. The speedo in the Mustang isn't very easy to read for me(his car has the mechanical gauges, not the trick full LCD one). And in general, I just like the Camaro package better: sports car chassis and handling with a very raw and American pushrod V8. Mustang has it backward: the chassis is not nearly as refined, and while I like the Coyote engine, I just prefer the characteristics of the LT1 more - more low-end grunt and brash, which fits the character of a pony car better. If it's a European or Japanese sports car, that would have been a bit different. A DOHC V8 would be a better suit there. I recently watched Ford v. Ferrari. Kind of entertaining to watch Ken Miles roast Mustang in the movie, LOL.

I also had a 2003 GT. That was back in late 05 when i was trading every 3 months.
It was nothing to wright home about at only 260hp. Traded it for a V8 S10. Then got a 05 GTO with the LS2 and that the first car that really felt good on power. Then went with a 04 C5 Z51 that felt like a slower down grade. The C5 with the Z51 option drove like it was on rails in the corners. Then my first true love was a 2006 C6 with mods. My fav cars were both of my C6's a 2006 and 2013 base 1LT's. The 2019 C7 was a hunk of junk and got the lemon law on it. Now i am a happy pappy with my 2021 LT1 with the A10. |
