Another Whipple build thread
Anyone looking to go with a Whipple in a 2019 SS should know that a slight inside bumper fabrication will be required for the Whipple reservoir to fit properly.
J-Rods has had mine for 2 weeks and its almost dyno tune time! |

Looking great! Did you do any other work at the same time (LT4 fueling, flex fuel sensor, etc)?

Nothing with the fuel system. I had Kooks 1 7/8 long tubes (Off road connection pipes) and the roto fab done with the Whipple. Oh and colder NGK plugs I will be running the 3.625 pulley to keep it around 8lbs of boost, so running out of fuel shouldn't be a problem |

Congrats, I love mine...smiles per gallon every time I drive it.
8psi will put you right at the fuel system limits. I would of just did the LT4 setup for room to grow.

Uh, like King said, you have much less wiggle room on the stock LT1 fuel system than you think... Pushing that envelope is a sure way to buying forged pistons sooner than later...

King,
So is it the in tank pump, High pressure fuel pump and the injectors that should be changed to the LT4 system? What about the cam? Thanks. Mike. |

Here is what I am running.
LT4 injectors LPE big bore high side pump ZL1 low side with JMS pump booster on 8-9 psi I can run pretty much run full pump E85 but my injector pulse widths are right on edge of safe, high and low side fuel pressures are perfect. So I have been mixing to keep E content around E70 to take a little strain off my fuel system even though it's probably fine. That keeps my injectors around 5.7ms and I can run about 21 degrees of timing. E70 I can get all my timing. E60 commands a degree or 2 less. If you run the LT4 high side pump instead of the LPE you more then likely will need to keep the E-content under E60. Then you will need meth to get the timing up over 20 degrees. Not that timing has to be there, it's just these engines like the timing but the high compression with boost limits that feat without using higher octane. A cam will allow you to get upwards of 11-12psi on E60 with the LT4 pump, but that is going to put you in the power range where it's time to consider forged pistons. So for me the LPE pump made sense because I didn't want to run meth and I am not doing a cam without doing pistons and I am not ready to tear into the motor yet. As you can see the fueling situation is kind of complicated on these engines. GM really needed to put dual fuel injection on the gen 5 stuff from the get go.

Congrats on the Whipple. We've done a bunch of them now and they always impress.
