Chevy is ruining the 1LE.

I just came across a 19 ZL1 1LE and noticed it had an automatic transmission. I thought that has to be some sort of replica to make it look like a 1LE. Nope, I went on the Chevy website and they now have an automatic option for the 1LE. I get it's supposed to be a little faster than a manual, but now they are making these cars for any idiot with zero driving ability to just get in and smash the pedal to the floor. This crap started with the V6 and now even a 4 cylinder 1LE. Along with the hideous bow tie on the bumper, Chevy is really messing these cars up in my opinion.

It’s about performance. A little faster is still faster.

There are plenty of idiots with no driving ability that can drive a manual, so I don’t really think any barrier to entry was breached here.

They're not ruining anything. Manual is still available for those of us that want one.

Nothing wrong with the 2.0T and V6 Camaro either. They've offered low HP, non V8, entry level Camaros since 1967 so that comment was pretty ignorant.

These dumb ass rants are getting old.

I think a ZL1 1LE is first and foremost a ZL1.
And ZL1s have offered automatics in the 5th and 6th gens.

Look at a NON ZL1 1LE. What does it offer for transmissions.

I'm with the OP, I don't like it either. I previously owned a 3rd gen and several 4th gens so I've always been a huge fan of the 1LE's. For 3 generations and 30+ years they've been V8/manual cars, now my 90 year old grandma can buy one with a 4 banger. It just doesn't seem right. While I get that it's a smart move by GM financially, I still can't help but feel like they sold out. Just my $.02

There were 3rd and 4th gen 1LEs that were automatic. 1LE being manual only was new to the 5th gen.

So you should take that argument and bury it away because it just makes you look stupid when you use it.

Also, if it weren't for those 4 and cylinder Camaros, you wouldn't have your V8 because the car relies on those to stay alive. Thankfully GM offers all of us a plethora of choices with this car and we can buy whatever the hell we want right now.

Whatever it takes to sell a few more so the camaro doesn’t disappear all together, again. The zr1 comes with an auto. I’m ok with this.

Grandma likes to shred it every once in a while like everyone else...let her have her fun.

As long as gm doesn't plaster the 1LE badge all over the place like they did the SS badge a few years back I'm good.

Completely disagree. I would buy a manual, but give customers options. Nothing wrong with the automatic option. Not ruining the car.
