Just curious ....huge HP and torque is cool , but if you cant get it to the ground and have it stick what is the point other than being able to say I have the biggest gear shift in the room?

Who's to say that isn't a worthy goal?

Jokes aside, when you have a ton of HP/torque, your top end becomes insanely strong even if you can't get a 2.x second 0-60 like an electric car (although I'm sure proper drag radials help a lot).

The stock SS, and even the ZL1 to some extent, is tangibly much slower to accelerate past 110-120 mph. When you have 1000+ rwhp, your 60-130 becomes as fast as 0-60 in a regular SS.

Drag strips exist for this reason. Sticky track with proper wheels and tires let you put that power down. But even on the street you can put it down in roll racing, 60-130, situations like Arpad mentioned. And boost controllers let you tame it down some when appropriate. I usually run scaled down to ~800 WHP on the street which is fine and actually kinda slow once you’re used to more.

Because you can.

I don't tow 30K+ pounds every time I drive my truck either, but I can

You'll be in the same boat, you won't be able to hook it till probably 60 mph. You don't want that thing over revving all the time trying to get over 750 rwhp to hook up.
Oh good those are the exact tires I was planning on running once I start upgrading. I am a big fan of the nittos I ran them on my 67 chevelle and for the money I have yet to find a better product tire wise. What kind of lifespan are you getting out of them. Day to day I will probably be pretty nice to them, but on weekends at night I am going to punish them a bit.

I was just saying that because I watched a Video of some roll races where the racers were a ZL1 with some pretty awesome mods and the other car was McClaren. Every time they aligned up to run the ZL1 spun and the McClaren pulled him. So I like HP...lots of it but I want to make I am not just spinning my wheels

A lot of that can be fixed in the tune too. I pulled timing out in the low/mid areas where I was having traction issues and it helped a lot.

Sounds like a good solution! I need to get a better understanding of HP tuners....on my list of things to learn.

The LT engine is an awesome machine with huge potential!

Smoothboost centrifical boost controller is something I read about recently on here and is something I am going to be digging quite a bit deeper on.

Smoothboost should be low on your wish list... you have alot more ahead of that on your future mods

We finally got our 1st Whipple 3.0L project finished.

The baseline is with the 2.9L and DI only.

Great numbers, Mike! I think we’re just starting to see what the 3.0 can do. Power looks virtually identical to mine (except I’m DI only) and looks like a great build. What pulley combo and psi were you running?

Also, your coolant is low… haha
