Vinyl wrapping mirrors

has anyone wrapped their mirrors? am looking into doing hood, spoiler and mirrors but am wondering if anyone that has done the mirrors, needed to remove them to ensure a clean finish?

I got quotes from companies in the 600s but I can do it myself for under 100. ive seen them done without it but i've never seen how the final product looks.

Thanks in advance!

I added vinyl accents to my old Camaro's mirrors but never done a full side mirror wrap yet but the thought has crossed my mind. I didn't need a heat gun for the accents but I'm sure you'll need one for this project to save some time.

yeah I have a heat gun already, I just wasn't sure if removing the mirrors will be needed for a clean finish.

I know the spoiler will. almost tempted to do the whole car.

Please post pics if you do! I was also thinking of doing the roof and mirrors with gloss black vinyl, and also have a white SS. remember to get the wrap material, it makes a huge difference.

I'd like to wrap my mirrors also, but I've looked into the subject and there are few who've done it (although hopefully you'll hear from the few that have). It does not seem easy, with all the curves and bends in the mirror.

There is actually a company that makes a molded mirror cover that is very close to what I'd like to have, but it doesn't cover the entire mirror housing (strange!?) so I had to pass on that one. Otherwise I'd just buy the covers and have them painted to my liking.

the only issue I'm concerned with is tucking the wrap at the base of the mirror that connects to the door.
I just want to make sure Its possible before I go all out.

having just spoiler and hood wrap would look weird IMO and having a sun roof I don't think ill do my roof black.
ive done small things like bowties, trim etc.. but anything big, this would be a first for me.

if I get the information I am seeking, I will post the process!

there are a lot of types of vinyl out there. some are more flexible than others and some are higher quality than others. Just wanted to make sure you get the right thing for your needs.

3M makes a series exclusively for wrapping vehicles.

I would give the guys at Metrorestyling.com a call for some tips....; ......they have really good tech-support and sell all types of vinyl wraps for cars. I've wrapped a few pieces myself and always find that I get better results when I can get it off the car..... it shouldn't be too hard after you remove the door card to get the entire mirror off......3m 1080 is fine but some people have better luck with complex curves using Avery.

Mirrors are tricky with the curves.
I did mine and it lasted 2 days.
It started to pull off the edges. I guess I used to much heat to stretch it.
Be ready for a do over...it might take a couple tries.

It looked good. Black mirrors on white car.
But I didnt bother trying again.

I can’t find anyone locally to do my mirrors. They all say the same thing that they won’t be able to get a clean fit because of the curves and angles. I might remove them this winter to have painted.

eh I will have this in the back of my mind during installation.

ive seen different brands adhere better than others so It will definitely be a trial and error process.

I feel like this will be easy peasy honestly.
