First oil change

Bought my 17 2ss in the middle of july. It has 600 miles on it. Some people say change it at 500 miles. Some say wait longer. Called the dealer. They said "600 miles isn't enough to even warm it up. Wait for 2000-3000 mile range for the first oil change." I have 2 years to use the 2 free oil changes.( i also bought 6 future oil changes for 300.00) I said it might be over a year before I have that much mileage on it. He said it would be fine since its synthetic and won't go bad. It is not a daily driver. What did you guys do or are going to Do about first oil change times?

This will get a lot of response and it has been asked at least 20 times before. I think the time to change the oil for the first time is at 1,500 miles. That is the end of the break-in period. I would change the rear differential at the same time, but my reasoning behind that has a lot more to do with my use of the vehicle.

I did my first oil change right after the "break-in" period, 1500 miles.

I would buy a magnetic oil pan plug and change it now.
This link shows how much metal was still in the oil with the second oil change. The first oil change was done at 800 miles.

How much time was that? Months or a year?

As said, lots of opinions on this will be coming in.

I went with 3500 miles for my first. It was about 6 months in for ownership. Current state of motor oils isn't like older technology and no break in oil is used anymore.

so you asked the people that work on them and they told you the answer. Sounds like you want to change it. So, change it. Owners manual? oil life monitor?

It was about a month and a half. I drove the heck out of it to get the break-in over with.

Oil life says 79%. Owners manual I think says 3000. Dosent say anything about 1st oil change. I think I will wait 6 months and see the mileage then. I've been driving it a lot more since the weather has been dry. Don't really drive it in the rain. Just turned 700 miles today.

First oil change: 1200 miles. About 2 months. Added magnetic drain plug.
Will be changing differential fluid at 1500 miles.

My conservative estimate thinks this thread will have 5+ pages of infinite wisdom.
