I’m happy this forum is here (first oil change on new Camaro)
About to hit 1500 miles and decided I’ll change the fluid then instead of at 500 and 1500 . Went to roll up my 2020 SS up my rhino ramps and off course it rubs the lip. So came on to the forum and found racing ramps as a suggestion but also jack and ZL1 add on pads . Went that route and just about ready to change the oil . Just waiting for the pads and will be doing the change this weekend . It sure why the pick is sideways lol

Just FYI: That's not the GM recommended / Dexos approved 0W-40 ESP oil. It's probably perfectly fine, but I just wanted to point that out.

I wonder what the difference is ? Idk I’ll have to debate using it now . It was only 50 bucks. I’ll order the right oil but amazon has it for 116 for 12 quarts . Anybody got better prices ?

I notice you only have one bottle of differential fluid. You're going to need another bottle. I can't recall the capacity, but it's more than a quart. I seem to recall that it's 1.4, but don't take my word for it, check the owners manual

From the 2020 owners manual: "Use engine oils that meet the dexos2 specification." and "Use SAE 0W-40 viscosity grade engine oil. If 0W-40 dexos2 oil is not available, SAE 5W-30 dexos1 full synthetic engine oil may be used for street use."

Just do like me and run whatever brand synthetic in the recommended weight you want. From my understanding oil companies have to pay for that Dexo2 badge and many just say fudge it.
Why do I use oil that's not Dexo2? Because Pennzoil Ultra > Mobil 1, Rotella T6 > Mobil 1, Motul > Mobil 1, Redline > Mobil 1. Let's just use Mobil 1 to represent any current Dexo2 labeled oil in our cars recommended oil weight. I'm not going to be a slave to GM's Dexo2 rating and run an oil I don't like over ones I'm personally fond of. I you only feel comfortable running Dexo2 labeled oil then I say that's okay, and more power to you. They're still good oils. |

I bought a $50k+ car with a $19k+ engine, I'll spend a little extra and do what the manufacture recommends... If I spend an extra $100/year on oil, that's the cost of owning a high performance vehicle...

That's still big bucks and significantly more expensive than the LS3.

I went with Castrol Edge 0w40. I got it off this list, and by BITOG recommendation. It does not say dexos2 on the jug, but here it is on their list from GM.
