Took mine to the track 4 months ago, just before the 'rona lockdown. Great experience, these cars are built for the track. But yes, shit can happen. I am sorry for your car man...

I thought he was being overly aggressive in his style of track driving, it was not a race. The last Mustang that he passed just before he over corrected with to much speed going into that turn passed by after his crash and gleefully waved to him. Positive side, no injuries just macho hurt feelings.

so does the track insurance cover any or all of your modification or just give you the base price of the car?

Wow, didn't look like $21,000+ in damages, must have bent the frame. Glad you're ok.

You list all the information on your car and they provide you with a stated value. In other words you know what you will get if your vehicle was to get totaled. It’s kind of like classic car insurance, you have a agreed value of the vehicle.

Wow.
It really takes a lot to make a video and share/explain your experience(s) around this kinda incident. May I suggest you don't wait any longer than you absolutely have to, before getting back on the "horse" though Luan!! Ps.. Thanks again for your work on the thread you recently took over...

You should try and buy the car back from auction. I live very close to RA and my good friend who owns a local body shop just rebuilt a 1LE that was much worse than yours. You could be back in it for not a ton of cash...

thanks for sharing! let us know how the track insurance works out. Glad you didn't get hurt. From the videos i've watched 'kink' looks like a such a scary turn, blind no runoff area, really fast, yet unassuming in a way i'd think it could sneak up on someone. I found your 2017 youtube video on the same track, you're fast, you can really wheel!
I saw in the older video you were < 110 before the kink, and making maximum g's at ~100 ... and on this one where you spun out, you were a bit faster. |

Thanks for posting and telling your story. That takes courage in itself. A crash like that is part of the reason I've lost interest in track days in street cars.

I am not giving up on tracking, just not in my car even though it would be good on a track with some tires. In carts you can safely explore your limits so you can understand what you don't yet know. Of course the cart host team does not appreciate this. I would love to have a track Miata. But getting ready for retirement prevents this. And I have no place to park a trailer that I would be allowed to use. m So why bother dreaming?
