To be sure I’m not draining the wrong fluid tomorrow when I service the diff. I have to ask.

The drain plug for the diff is the silver plug visible right in the middle of the differential in this picture correct?

Did the job this morning in my driveway.

Hardest part of the job is jacking up the car and avoiding staining your interior with oil and whatever other nonesense you get on yourself while you’re crawling under the car !!

The differential oil definitely had some shavings in it. I couldn’t tell what the engine oil had in it since I drained the engine oil into the same pan which was already holding the differential oil in it.

I wish those Zl1 addons jacking points where a little longer so they would clear the plastic side skirts better.

Please confirm...my dealer is being very particular about this. BTW the link works for me now too?

NOTHING changed between 2017/2018 LT4s/LT1s and 2019 LT4s/LT1s...So if it's recommended for 2019, then there's ZERO reason why it shouldn't be used in 2017/2018s.

YUP...we all know that but unless it states 2018 then its out of pocket for me.

I spoke with my dealer - he said Mobil 1 ESP 0w40 Dexos 2 is a replacement for the street NOT the track. I should still use the recommended track oil. If anyone has heard otherwise please let me know.

ordered it on 6/27/18 from GMPartsOverstock.com and it hasn't arrived yet. Any other online vendors definitely have it in stock for resale?

Who cares what your dealer said? Yes, if you have a dedicated track toy, the 15w50 MAY offer some better fade resistance. However, most could track more than safely on the 5w30. So the 0w-40 certainly is safe for track use and then some. Mobil and GM both agree that it is safe for street and track use. Good enough for me.

Read the original post with the Mobil 1 Official information for the LT4.

My local dealership is a bunch of morons. They can't even tell me the type/weight of the oil when I give them the part #'s when they look it up in their system. But they're quick on the price - $19 A QT This is my second(and last dealer completed) oil change under Chevy care, so I'm going to press for it to be free or seriously reduce the per qt price.

I know what the system looks like, as soon as they punch in the part number it will say something like "MOBIL 1 0W40 ESP 1 QT" right there in front of them...
