Yea, if want to have the driver's glass down, you need to lower the pass glass a fraction

I have extreme buffeting problems at high speeds on track with both windows fully down. It hurts my ears even with a helmet on. I guess I can be the one to try rain deflectors as a hack attempt..

Nope. When it’s 75 or above. Both windows down all the time. Hwy included. Love it. No sunroof. My 2015 Mustang GT was the same. Experience little to no buffetting from either.

That’s because the issue is the headliner on a non-sunroof car has little to no support in the center. So the headliner bounces up & down with the oscillating air pressure, just like a giant speaker. With a sunroof, there isn’t much unsupported area, so it doesn’t get to vibrating like that.

That's weird. I run at Daytona 2-3 times a year and haven't had the buffeting problem at 170MPH. With one window down, it's unbearable, but not with both.

Sam Strano developed small deflectors that go on the mirrors. Might be worth investigating. It's my plan when I get my 1LE

Have this in all my vehicles not just the Camaro. (With one window down) Either have to open both windows, (or one window and sunroof if you have one). In all my other vehicles I open my window and crack open a back window.

I agree, as long as I open the passenger window some, the buffeting is not bad, still present, but not an issue. One window, oh lord, that is painful! I prefer to leave the windows shut 99% of the time, street driving anyway. |

I first experienced this when we got our first Highlander back in 13. It is unbearable, & anecdotally or 19 is just as bad. What I’ve come up with is newer vehicles have a forward facing lip on the windshield side. I managed to dig up some wind tunnel vids & could see some swirling around that lip. The air mass is moving omnidirectional at that juncture. Some air moving along the windshield plain, trapped by the lip, another portion of the mass is moving to the side. To the best I can ascertain is the resonate frequency of this turbulence is transferred to the air mas moving past the window opening. I get the math involved in the Helmotz Resonator, but it boils down to dynamic air pressure changes & static air pressure mass within the cab. Quote:
I still think that pillar shape & angle have something to do with it. |
