Does navigation require subscription to get speed limit in hud?

I almost always use Google maps for navigation but thinking of getting the navigation option when I order my camaro, to see the speed and turn by turn navigation in the hud do you need any subscription? What nav features do you lose by not having the monthly subscription? Tried googling this but there is conflicting information out there on the forum, some people said you lose these features without subscription and others said you don't need the subscription for them.

No subscription needed with i06.

We can see too far.

My 20 displays the speed limit on the driver information center even when the Navigation System isn’t in use. Two different ways.

Do you pay for any monthly subscriptions? Or does it pull it from the nav that comes with the car?

No subscription. Just the cost to purchase Navi with the car.

I see the the speed limit all the time on the DIC. To the left of the area where the transmission

I can also scroll through the center information screen and display it there.

I can also see the speed limit in the HUD, with the street name and turn instructions, when using Navi

Can it show the speed limit in the hud when you aren't using the navigation? Or do you have to choose a destination first before it will show speed limit in the hud?

There are many options and that is one of them. I do not have any subscriptions.

When I first got the car I was all into the Onstar gimmicks, I had the subs and all. Later on I figured out that I didn't need to be on their billing cycle to enjoy my car.

We can see too far.

It sounds like you think the HUD uses the GPS from the navigation to pull your speed. It's reading it from the same module that any car's regular dashboard speedometer pulls from. Whether you get navigation or not, it will always display speed in the HUD.

However, the HUD will ONLY display the built in navigation's turn by turn. It won't display Google Maps turn by turn directions.

I'm talking about the speedlimit for the road not the speed for the car

It will still show the posted speed limit without a subscription. At least my 2017 2SS does.

We can see too far.

Oh, you get that permanently as well. Which is terrible and the worst feature GM has ever put in their cars.

The speed limit is displayed in either of these locations, even when Navi isn't in use.

My 16 with Navi, and 18 without Navi didn't show this. I assume this functionality is part of the Navi option beginning 2019.

What is terrible enough about seeing the posted speed limit in the DIC to earn it the "worst feature" title?
