New nhra rule, no more roll bar!
http://promod.nhra.com/Userfiles/Fil...09-18-2018.pdf
Page 6 This is a pretty big deal and about time. I hope I am understanding these changes correctly. Cage still kicks in below 10.0 et

If they do bitch about tires I will make sure to run dot tires. Way better than a roll bar.

just the idea of no longer having to make the decision of whether or not to roll bar is good enough for me. I've had a few friends that got roll bars and soon regretted that decision because not a year later, they were ripping them out and doing a cage.

Well I already installed mine last winter and I do run slicks and I doubt they will lower bar on the 6 pt so basically I'm stuck in the middle as now that I'm doing a motor rebuild and will probably see some 9.70's if I can get it done before the end of the season because the 6pt bolt in bar went down to 9.99. Oh well I'm safer at any speed and I do run about 140 now so I really need it anyway.

That is the thing. I have my doubts you are any safer with the roll bar. I am fairly certain a full cage would make a car less safe for any kind of street driving. I am really happy they are fixing this.
Maybe they will be a little slack and let people bump into the 9’s? If nothing else it will be easier to shave a little et if you only have to get down to a 10.0 and then make a glory run on the way out the door.

Well this all started with the c6 z06 and the fact you couldnt run it, even in its factory configuration, at the drag strip...... so if car companies just start coming out with factory 9 second cars.... then we will probably see some relaxation on the 9.99 et

Yeah, they have had this rule for awhile but it only applies to unaltered cars. They took the unaltered part out but added you must have the factory safety equipment.

So if you have a 15" conversion, that would be a problem???

Previously yes. With the new rule no. You can have mods now as long as you didn’t remove any airbags, abs or anything like that. In reality they won’t check for any of that but if your car is completely gutted they might call you on it.

Unaltered OEM installed anti-lock brakes, airbag functions, as well as all other OEM safety related systems must be functioning as per manufacturer’s specifications. How is a 15" conversion consider unaltered OEM anti-lock brakes?

I guess it could be interpreted that way. They are still abs. I would be surprised if they put that much thought into it.

X2.... I think it's just if you still have the abs system... because things like line locks would disqualify you
