Texas Mile
Is anyone familiar with the Texas Mile? I'm looking into it as somewhat of a bucket list item as my schedule just freed up for the weekend it is on.
Anyway, my question is regarding convertibles at the event. The way I read the rules means that convertibles need to have some sort of rollover protection. IE roll cage or roll bar. Since the 6th gen vert has no factory rollover protection (right?) I'd need an aftermarket cage or roll bar? If anyone familiar with the event can confirm the way I interpret the rules I'd appreciate it. The way I read it means I wouldn't be able to run which would be a bummer. Thanks, Richard.

It is a nice event to attend. I have also seen some pretty bad wrecks and is very understandable for the extra safety hardware on convertibles. You can also look into the half mile events like Texas invitationals and see what rules they have.

Has anyone ever went as a spectator? It looks like one of the runways may be left open so I'm thinking about flying in. I'm just wondering if there's much to see and do in the way of vendors and static displays.

I used to go before they moved it. Not much in the way of vendor setups (maybe that's changed) but most have camps full of their cars so plenty to see there. Definitely bring an ice chest and some shade. It is a lot of fun.

I just got an email reply and was told there will be an open runway. So I think I'll land Saturday morning and leave when I've seen enough.
