Ah, that would explain it. Not sure that's even useful, but made for a cool graphic.

3 seconds a lap is a lifetime, I'm with ya there.

Putting the power down earlier allows for the 3 second per lap advantage. Yes 3 seconds at speed is forever.

I'm not sure what thread a question was raised regarding the Z06 changes, but here's some 2017 Z06 pictures.

At the drag strip 100ths win races so yes 10ths certainly matter, but car A running 10.80 and car B running 10.90 are still 10 second cars and both are hauling ass at the end of the day. I use the same logic for everyday screwing around that it's not a huge difference until you get in to the 5/10 range, then there's a marked difference in the two cars' performance, setup, driver skill, or all of the above. Pro drivers will certainly disagree with me, however, and I accept that we can both be technically "right" depending on the scenario being discussed (racing vs. playing).

I was noticing the sector times and the cars were tenths a part through an entire sector. Admittedly I'm not a road course guy so I will concede I could very well be talking out of my ass but that seems pretty close to me? I do want to get my 2SS out on the Corvette track a time or two this fall though, so I can actually have some experience. I've been on a road course, but only a time or two (did the Dodge driving school thing at Road ATL).

I do agree a 3 second per lap difference is A LOT. I also noticed the former ZL1 was in the top three of all the cars tested and the two that beat the ZL1 were 4 times the price +. Credit due there for sure.

I am curious what I missed...... why the sector time differences add up to 1.3 seconds (still a lot) and the overall lap time difference was 3.1 in that link?
If you are referring to the 5G ZL1 it had a 1.9 not a 2.3L supercharger. But I do agree that the 1.7 is way too small. It has to spin faster and we all know that creates heat. A 2.3 could produce the same HP with less boost. Maybe they where looking at packaging.

Very cool to see the better cooling solution in the z06 too!

Also I wish the "Ranger z06" corvette guy would set m6 1/4 times with the new zl1 too!

Taken at Corvettes at Carlisle in PA. GM brought a good number of Corvettes.

Yes they also added larger and extra radiators to the Z06 like the Grand Sport.

As well as a new top lid that moves the bricks higher in the manifold. Also new bricks as well. It is said that all 16 and up Corvettes will be retrofitted.

No way GM is going to drop 10's of millions to retrofit existing cars. Not something they do unless it's a safety issue and that's been questionable up until recently.

^^^ I agree. They might offer the parts to retrofit, but they're not paying for it.

P.S. Dang Bucknut your C7 looks like a monster. Any times?
