I figured you wouldn't but the complaints I've heard are usually so dumb it would blow your mind.

I had an outstanding drill instructor at OCS. He has a thing for demerits, so his usual punishment would be 1 demerit for whatever you did wrong and another demerit for knowing better. Each demerit is a 10-minute session of his personal workout plan, and let me tell you that P90X has nothing on this guy. Most DIs didn't want to do the paperwork for demerits, but this one liked making you think about what you did wrong.

We had the pleasure of meeting with new recruits at Benning over morning chow during my DCC course. Basically, it was a sit-on-the-ground-and-have-chow-with-officers sort of deal. They rarely got time to eat, let alone chat, so this was a rare event for them. We made sure to let them secretly have our eats while we answered questions as we all sat on the ground. "Sir, you gonna eat that?" "It's all yours, just don't get in trouble." Only Soldiers we saw get in trouble were those who were obviously pulling grub out of the trash cans and trying to scarf it down in full view.

I have never forgotten that.

In boot camp a recruit whispered to another recruit "Wouldn't it be nice to get in the showers with Petty Officer [Insert our female Petty Officers name here]." Only he didn't whisper quiet enough and she heard him. The whole division has to go into the showers and do pushups in freezing cold water with her standing in there asking if we liked showering with her.

Oh I'll definitely be reading every story entered in this thread.

We need to get GTAHVIT in here to post some of his stories. He had me in tears at the last Fest in Indy.

We had a guy in my platoon in boot camp named Haight, pronounced like hate. At evening hygiene inspection, one of the Drill Instructors inspected him and told him he smelled like garbage, and that he was a filthy, disgusting pig....to put it kindly. So the DI made another recruit go get a garbage can, and made him get in it and sit all the way down in it. Unfortunately, I was standing directly across from him waiting to get inspected as well. All I could see of him was from his shoulders up, and he had his fingers over the edge of the can like a perched cat or ferret or something. Needless to say, it was frickin hilarious to me, and I let out a few chuckles which got me sent to the quarterdeck for some IT'ing in skivvies. It was well worth it....I can still see it in my head 13.5 years later.
