I can't wait to find out.

The Vette just felt so calm and everything was so easy driving it fast on track. The Camaro, based on first impressions, seems a lot more "nervous", like you need to drive it more. If that is true on track it will make it move fun than the Vette - I always felt like I was cheating driving the Vette on track - everyone else was working so hard, and I was just out for a Sunday drive passing everyone

Randy Pobst claims the 1LE is confidence inspiring on track, a joy to drive. He also claims the C7, especially the Z06 is a white knuckle ride trying to keep the car under control.

Randy is right. Even in comparison to my c5z (rather well sorted for track duty) the 1le is easier to drive fast --by far. If any 1le feels "nervous" I bet there is an issue somewhere in the suspension. This is the most planted the most predictable the most balanced car I've driven on a track yet. There's absolutely NOTHING "nervous" about its balance. Period. Full stop.

Just got it back from the dealer, nice two hour drive through some windy roads and this thing is sweet!

I want to post pics, do I have to put them on a website first? I thought I could just copy them into the posts...I could've sworn you could do that on the corvetteforum.....tells you how long its been since I've put pics on forums! LOL

I am extremely undecided between a SS 1LE and a 18/19 Mustang. I too come from having owned a couple of Corvettes, an '02 Z06 and a '15 C7 Z51.

The 1LE seems like the logical choice since I enjoy performance driving. The C7 handled like it was on rails and I really enjoyed that, I set the fastest lap at the local track on street tires and won a few 1st places in autocross with it. I am certain I will enjoy driving the 1LE, but I'm not in love with the overall styling and interior.

In the other hand, we have the refreshed 2018 Mustang. The engine is now as fast if not faster than the LT1 and what it lacks in torque it finds it on the top end. Sure, it doesn't have the low center of gravity of the LS series, but for this year they introduced dual fuel injection, port and direct, so no need to worry about carbon build-up on the intake valves like the LT1. It looks good, it's comfortable, it sounds great; it checks a lot of boxes for me.

What gets me is that people are getting these 1LEs for bargain prices, it's A LOT of performance for the money. The Mustang gets up to $50k the way I'd configure it (performance pack 1, electromagnetic suspension, exhaust with valves, etc.).

The other aspect is, I'm into motorcycles now, so my track days and mountain runs are on two wheels. Something that I miss going from the 02 Z06 to the Stingray is that I could have more fun on the older vette on the streets. I used to do a u-turn to get on my old neighborhood and I would come out WOT on the Z06 with the tail sliding all over the place. When I got the Stingray that thing was so planted that I really needed to try to get the rear to lose traction. I'm afraid that the 1LE is not going to be as fun (or loose) on the street as a Mustang. Just today I drove a '14 Shelby GT500 and the rear end getting getting squirrely under power reminded me of the Z06; not the fastest, but lots of fun.

Either way, congrats, you got a phenomenal deal. I don't think I can go wrong with either choice.

Get Mustang size tires on a 1le and not as sticky as G3s and you'll be able to have a squirly car all day long

Not a fan of the new "sleepy fish" (as blogs have called it) look of the new Stang and apparently neither is the market as their sales tanked the most last month percentage wise. Not good for a newly refreshed model. That aside, I also don't think the build quality is up there if you look closely at body panels and such. But mostly it is a personal decision and it is nice to have choices.

Also, we should see what GM does for a 2019 refresh very soon as 2018 orders end in May I think.

In either case: happy shopping!

You wont be sorry. Went from a a10 16 zo6 to my zl1 1le. I feel the camaro is a better car price not withstanding. With the price advantage its a no brainer. Can't wait to hear your feedback once you've driven it a bit.

If you want to do any serious performance driving (track/autocross) the Mustang PP1 is a bad investment. It is just not a nice setup.

The PP2 may be the way to go, but you will have to content with a very low splitter and Cup 2 tires if you want to daily drive or something.

I may change my mind when I get it on track (can't wait), but based on street impressions, the 1LE is not nearly as settled and balanced as the C7 Z51. It does have more tire, more brakes and more cooling though - and that is what led me to buy one.

Mustang just does not drive well in this generation - they never got the car right after they moved to IRS, and Ford has a ways to go to learn to setup magnaride (just my 2c).

Couldn't agree more Baron! Except for your comments about balance et al. Check your alignment, suspension and maybe even E-LSD as clearly as heck there's something amiss with your car specifically.
Thousands of posts in this forum praise the 1le balance and so do the pros like Randy Pobst as well...
