Well, the manual does not mention any specific manufacturer, or specific oil name, just 0w40 (and 5w40 in prior manuals). So id said ANY such oil is fine as long as it is Dexos2 certified.

GM needs to get off their butt and start Dexos2'ing some better 40 weight oils. I don't really mess with Mobil 1. It works but in my Terminator, Lightning and 02 SS I preferred Pennzoil Ultra (and Platinum) Redline, Amsoil, Motul oils, German Castrol. Generally I run Pennzoil Ultra. I put Mobil 1 on the RP and Vavoline synthetics level. They're not bad oils, they just aren't my favorites.

Dexos2 rating or not if I need to use a 5W40 oil it will be Shell Rotella T6 5W40. As is I'm going to do my first oil change using a 5W30 (actually I'm going to try that new Rotella 5W30 that carries a Dexos 2 rating)
