Question SS 1LE Shifting issues survey

Hi Guys,

Apparently some 6th. gen SS 1LE owners are reporting manual transmission shifting issues. This is a quick survey to see the proportions of who is affected and who is not. If your shifting problem was solved, please explain how it was improved.

My issue was self-induced from 2nd - 3rd. Only during 'hard/fast' shifting.

I would miss 3rd about half the time.

I chalked it up to changing cars (I had a FoST for 5 years).

In my last 3 track days, I haven't missed a single 2-3 shift.

I did a fluid flush at 5k miles. Just hit 7k.

Try open palm, pushing into third gear.

1-2 is beginning to lose its smoothness for me, almost at 11k miles.

Not sure if anyone else is having this issue but I've noticed when I have Rev Match on, when I go from 1st to 2nd, it revs up to the point when I let off the clutch, it throws the car forward, like it's trying to rev match when upshifting. It's weird but it's also when I've normal driving and not driving hard

This happens to me on track as well occasionally and I know happens to at least 2 other members on here (1LE and Zl1). It will feel like im fighting through a rubber bushing to get it into third. Only hard driving at or near redline.

sometimes mind grinds going into second from first but probably will go away once i put more miles on it.

I do notice that the gear lever bounces around like crazy when driving around though.

Well, then maybe it isn't just me.

When I miss, it feels like third isn't where it's supposed to be. Like the gate has moved slightly to the left. It doesn't grind, it's just not there.

I'm getting it into gear every time, but I have noticed I liked the shifting on the 2016 Man 6sp 2SS I traded in better than the shifting in the 1LE. I keep hoping it will break in.

Maybe is because the 1LE has a shorter shift compared to the SS

Winter + stock trans fluid = noticeable reluctance in selecting 2nd gear.

After I swapped in AMSoil Manual Syncromesh fluid, it's nearly normal levels of shift effort even when cold.

As such, I checked "yes" given how bad the stock fluid was plus in particular my 2nd gear syncro needed either better fluid or significant break-in time to be normal.

Just to clarify, what shifter issues are you talking about OP? It seems we are discussing two issues within this thread. Something a few of us experience on track, and others normal street driving.

Yep I've had this happen to me too.

No issues shifting until WOT but maybe that's a new car thing (need to get used to it) or a soft transmission mount allowing the transmission to move enough for the gate to shift a bit.
