Advice Needed: Front fender dent
Hi All,
I recently had a minor incident with the garage door and now I have a sizeable dent on the front wheel arch, right above the tire at the body line. No significant damage to the paint but it appears that the dent can't be just popped out. I got an estimate from a local Caliber Collusion, they recommended a full fix, paint, clear coat etc. I got an estimate from a Paintless Dent place, they didn't seem too confident that it would be fixed 100% My question is has anyone dealt with a dent on the front fender? What did you do/recommend? Should I entertain getting a new front fender? Much appreciated. |

that its on the body line is going to complicate and make it much more that paintless can probably deal with. But Id let paintless have a go at it, first.

I have a friend who was in the auto biz who swore by Dent Wizard. They do not drill holes. You might try them (if you didn't already).

The PDR guys will always tell you they aren't sure they can make it look as good as new to protect themselves. I have used the same guy twice and turned out perfect each time and eah time he told me the same. That said the body line does add complexity but as mentioned above I would let them try first. You may be out $100 or so but if they fix it to your satisfaction you'll be much better off then a collision repair shop.

a good PDR man can probably fix it.had a couple done by dent ranger in daytona beach.anyone around the area should use him,the dents disappeared completely.

Thank you all! I will take the advice and let the PDR people give it a shot. If it doesn't work, it needs to be repainted anyways so not much lost.

I had a dent right above the tire at the body line. Just like what your talking about. The dent was right at the fender body line. In less then a half hour, (Dent Pro) made it brand new again. As long as the paint is not damage, these guys can work wonders.

i had one about the size of a half dollar on the rear quarter right on the crease. The guy spent about 1 1/2 hrs and you can't tell it was ever there.

Yeah you may have to let a body shop deal with that dent! Try the PDR guys first though and they will let you know if they can fix it. Good luck.

You have to consider how "right" you want this to look in a highly visible area. I think PDR will be able to fix it to less than perfect. I would search youtube for any similar repairs. This looks like an exam level project for pdr. You might find something on youtube to help guide your pdr guys. This is not a quickie fix. There are some amazing guys who post to youtube. If it were my car, I would give pdr a chance before forking over top dollar for the new part and paint. If you want guaranteed perfect, skip the pdr and pay the body shop. |
