tail light connector removal problem
Hi everyone,
I have a '16 and recently decided to switch the tail light to the newer gen look. I pulled the housing out of the car but couldn't disconnect the wire no matter what I try. (first time doing this) I pulled out the red tab and tried to push in the little vertical red part that pops out a bit while I pull on the whole thing, but it won't budget. Is there a trick to this? I tried using trim removal tools but can't really find a point I can leverage my force on. I looked at lethal and others' video and they just popped it out like nothing. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance |

After unlocking the red tab, you need to push the black part between the tab and the red pin while gently pulling the two connector sections apart. It may take some jiggling if the connector hasn't been apart since the car was assembled. Don't use tools, you will break the small black hook on the connector.

I found if you push in a little(while pushing the black tab down) then pull apart, it comes apart much easier.

Holy crap that's what I'm doing wrong. Yes that worked! Thank you both so much!!!
uhhh sorry but new question - the turn lights kept blinking when the car is off..everything works when the light's on, but when the car's off it just blinks continuously. I got a 2016 LT, the Morimoto LF407 XB shouldn't require a harness for anything pre-2018 as far as I've researched, am I wrong? |
