First E-85 fill up
Hey guys, I’m about to put in my first full tank of e85 tomorrow. I’m currently on a mix of 91/e85. I’m almost at no remaining gas. *Any ideal range till empty that I should fill up with full e85 at?* After I fill up, how long should I let the car idle for? After my first fill up of full e85, (second fill up, third fill up, etc) would I have to repeat the idle process every time I fill up? For example, I’m at half a tank of e85, and wanna fill it up again so I can have a full tank, would I have to Let the car idle for a given amount of time or just fill up, turn on the car, and go. It’s my first car with e85, so wanna make sure I don’t mess up. Thanks

I haven't had a E85 car yet but from what I take I'll ask a couple of questions and someone else will be more help.
Do you have the flex fuel kit installed? If yes, did your tuner turn it on and has the car been tuned for E85? If no, make sure you get the kit turned on and tune or it will hurt the car. You said nothing about that in your post just making sure, now someone else can help you out. But if you said yes above it's my understanding that you can put it in the car and go if it's turned on and tune. The computer should compensate. |

I'm not sure what you mean about the idle process. When I switch from 91 to E85, I just drive the car and it runs fine.

I had the E85 conversion and just ran it to about a 1/8 tank, filled it with E85 and drove it. I wasn’t told to do anything different. Never seemed to be a problem. I believe they calibrate it for different fuel ratings. Someone with more knowledge can confirm or tell me I completely messed up.

After my FF kit and tune, I just put E85 in and drove it normally like I did before E85. No problems.

Well if you're converting from 91/93 to E85, I've been recommended to give some time to correctly read the E content of the E85. I don't have a Wideband sensor, so I never really know my Ethanol content, so I just wait about 5-10 minutes before I leave the station when I go for a fill up.

Just put it in and go.
I don't understand why you think you need to idle your car every fill up, or ANY fill up, or wait 5-10 minutes after a fill up. Do you feel you have to wait for some type of voodoo magic to happen? Maybe sacrificing a goat after every fill up would be helpful too.....

Idling won’t do much, just cruise it for a few minutes and let it settle before ripping on it. You can watch LTFTs if you want to see what happening.
