What to expect from swapping axle back

I'm looking into the AWE touring axle-back to replace my Stainless Works mufflers. Current setup looks like this:

Texas Speed LTs > high flow cats > Stainless Works cat-back

I'm mildly content with the sound. My two complaints are drone and it's just not as loud as I was expecting. Startup sounds good, idle sounds good, but I feel like there's a lot of sound being suppressed... which is why I'm considering the AWE axle-back.

I guess what I'm wondering before I go ahead and make the purchase is what I can expect from doing this. How much louder can I expect the car to be if I swap out my baffled sound-suppressing SW mufflers to the non-baffled, straight-through-design AWE cans?

Another thing I'm curious about is how different the tone be with my LTs and SW X-pipe... I'm assuming I will get a slightly different sound than if I were putting the axle-back on an otherwise stock setup. And also, is the SW X-pipe dampening sound too, or is that entirely due to the mufflers?

It's going to be a lot louder with straight through pipes. The main thing hindering your sound is your cats. These cars really open up (sound wise) when you remove the cats.

I just did kooks LTs and deleted both sets of cats and it got LOUD. I didn't do the xpipe as i'm not sure what sound difference was to be expected. My only complaint and its really not a big one is the raspiness gets amplified a lot without cats.

Me too. I have ARH 1-3/4" headers without cats & yes it's LOUD!
I'm leaving the remaining stock x-pipe & NPP muffler.
No H.P. to gain with different x-pipe or muffler(s), but it's loud enough for me.
FYI, I picked up 3 tenths in the 1/4 mile with just headers & no cats.

Does the raspy sound bother you at all?

Nope, I'm a drag racer. this is 75% quieter compared to my 1000h.p. drag car with open headers.
