Why does no one make bolt in high flow primary cats

I know that long tubes are the way to go but what if you are not quite ready for that and still want to stay legal.

Do you have to have both cats on to pass inspection? You could do a primary delete which will help some with the flow. GMs done a good job on their Manifolds and Cats. I went 10.00@139 on the stock manifolds and cats with a Maggie 2300.

I am 40, don't feel like dealing with inspection bullshit anymore. I thought about primary deletes but just want to make sure I will still pass. I live in Texas so as long as it passes visual inspection and obd2 then it will be fine.

If you need them just for visual inspection get some V-Bands. Get your muffler guy to make you two sets. One with your cats and the other just pipe. I use them to disconnect and take off the mufflers at the rear and then just put on a turn down to save weight at the track.

Get some bolt-in primary deletes and move the o2 sensors behind the secondary. Voila... There is your high flow cats. They are very low restriction. The bottle neck in the exhaust is at the connection point between the primary cat and factory header. It necks down under 2" before the flange on the cat pipe.

I have heard mixed results with that. I have thought about it though.

Do you have visual inspection in your parts of TX? In Dallas, I went in with my car smelling like fuel and cam choppin hard, no cats. The dude at inspection was like wow this car seems bit rough lol plugged in the obd2 scan and off i was.

well they are supposed to do visual inspection but most are probably lazy and as long as the obd2 passes they just let it go.

because they would not sell. also, i don't think a bolt in option for anything dealing with the exhaust between the manifold and midpipe exists. fairly sure one side must be cut.

Thanks! I have heard abouy this but did not know where the neckdown was. Given (from JRE) that LTs only give you 15 RWHP getting rid of this restriction probably gives you a good part of that number.

So theoretically a Shorty/HF Cat combocould get you close to that and keep the stock sound and cost a bit less and be an easier install. But you still will need a tune to keep the CELs away as I heard that restriction was needed to light the first cats quickly. However these would only be annoying CELs, and of course a slightly less effective emission system. Yet Still sort of planet friendly. I wonder if that connecttion could be opened up with a grinder?
