Motul 660 Voids Warranty?
Hey C6 Fam,
I am prepping for my track day for NCM at Camarofest and the dealership I used to go to perform my brake fluid on my old 2016 SS Camaro didn't have any problems changing the fluid. Now when I get my 2022 SS 1LE and I asked to replaced factory fluid with Motul 660 they claim it will void warranty. I'm, like what warranty? The whole car? Have you'll heard of such a thing? They said they will be held liable if the car underperforms and cause issues due to brake fluid put in. Does it comes with DOT4 from the factory? This my first 1LE as my last one had DOT3 and needed to be changed GM ACDELCO PART# 19299570 (Dealer Recommends) vs Motul 660 I plan to use.

Both fluids are DOT4. Did the dealer say why it would void the warranty? If it's for using a non OEM fluid, I believe that would be against the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.

Try printing out the Chevrolet Track Preparation manual and showing it to them. The one I have (2017) says for track events or competitive driving, it is recommended to change the brake fluid with a high performance brake fluid that has a dry boiling point greater than 279 degrees C (543 degrees F). Also says DOT-4 brake fluid.

It's just more ultra defensive liability BS from the dealership. The Motul 660 is a great fluid, costs more than that GM DOT4 fluid, it's probably not the same (and superior).
Also, there is no such thing as a single "warranty", the car comes with several warranties, not even sure which one they think would be voided by 3rd party brake fluid—probably powertrain, but then IMO this falls squarely under Magnuson-Moss, you are trying to use a superior aftermarket fluid alternative without modifying the car.

Check your brake fluid reservoir cap. It will have "USE ONLY DOT4" printed on it if the car was factory filled with DOT4.

FYI: I just found out from a buddy of mine. If you wanted to track your car with factory specs. The factory fill DOT4 fluid from GM is made by Dynatex and has a dry boiling point of 509°F / 265°C

There you go, the Motul 600 RBF has a 594 °F boiling point, and the 660 RBF has an higher one of 617 °F.
