Unhappy Am i Doing something wrong?

Ok
I have an L99 SS and I finally had time to head back the the drag strip for the second time. The first time I went the best I could do was 9.1 in the 1/8 and that was without preparing. This second time I installed an CAI. Lowered my tires to about 26psi. I did a little burnout till i saw smoke and turned the nannies off. This time the best I got was 8.9. The rest of the runs were about 9.1, 9.2. I figured I would get close to mid 8's.

I'm on the Left.

Your 60 needs to be in the 1.9s to run mid 8s. Mph is low though, might try the fuse pull and make sure u have good gas in the car.

I went 8.4@83 yesterday with a 2.1 60ft. DA was about 2400. What were the track conditions when you made that pass?

A CAI alone isn't enough to make a big change in hp. You should run about the same with/ without the intake. Fuse pull couldn't hurt, along with a steady diet of 91/93 octane.

can't remember though they were having a lot of cars break down and leak that night.

Track conditions mean more than just the 60ft. If some shade tree guy has a jalopy that is leaking at half track, you are going to have traction issues there too. I know I had traction issues yesterday up until the top of 2nd gear. Get yourself some tires.

Keep tryin. I could John force the pirrellis with 36 psi in them and get 1.9s coming off idle. No stall up. At that track.

Yea I will. Probably just went on a bad day. I'm going to head back in a few weeks if work will let me. I'm determined. Haha

I've gone 1.95 on stock tires, a short burnout and then I don't leave the line on full power, I gradually but quickly get into the gas. Takes some practice.

1.81 on stocks here , ive got a 2 step and ive tried about every rpm from 3000 down to idle. im a m6 tho . but just above idle seems to work best. i got a good track that prep is awesome . first 300' is concrete. This track is known for hookin up too. Which makes all the diff in the world. but just hit it off of idle. slowly roll into the throttle. i see alot of newer guys at the track in autos . be on the converter for ever. wait till the guy next to u(if ur not solo running) pre stages and wait . Ive seen some guys be fully staged and on the converter while the guy next to them is still rowing up to prestage. just some thoughts tha might help out.

thank I'll try that next time. I didn't try olding it under 1000. I see if that will help.
