It wouldn't change your time on the slip, but it will lose races.

Well 80% of the time I'm running against full on drag cars that run like 7's so I only race to beat my time. X]

Really? Interesting. The tracks I've been to never mixed street cars and race cars.

You just need more practice and doing what works best for you to get the times you want. I didn't get the hang of my car probably until I had been to the track 4 or 5 times. For us LS3s, it's finding where that sweet spot in the clutch is, but you are an L99 so you don't have to worry about slipping the clutch.
Also like others were mentioning, track prep, temp, and DA play huge roles in getting good times as well. You could be running low 13s in the 1/4 at one track and then go to another 100 miles away and be running mid 12s because of DA, etc. Just keep practicing and you'll get it |

Yup ... depending on what cold air intake you are running, you could run a bit better than that, but you aren't that far off.
I am running a similar setup to you - L99 with a CAI brand intake with Apex scoop on stock pirellis and was running pretty consistently 8.72-8.75 this past weekend. Tire wear will have a big impact ... last fall, running same setup but with 20k miles on the tires was only getting around 8.80-8.90 times. Though this may sound like a basic question for ya, but are you shifting into 'M' to be in sport mode and then leaving hands off the paddle shifters? (you will start in 1st gear vs 2nd gear when in "D"). |
