Backward compatible? rims
I tried searching, but couldn't find what I needed.
I have a 2023 Camaro LT2 with stock 20" rims. I absolutely hate everything about them, the looks, the color and I feel like I feel every pebble on the road. I was having problems finding anything I liked in inventory, and this car was perfect except for the tires. Drove it for 15 months thinking they would grow on me, but they haven't. I still have the original OEM 18" rims from my 2012 in the garage. The bolt pattern seems to match, so would there be any problems putting new tires on the old rims and just swapping them out? I'm going to talk to the tire place in a day or two, but figured I'd ask the experts on this forum first if there were any factors I need to consider before I seriously consider swapping them out and selling the 20s. |

aside from 20's are those run flats that are on the car? If so that may be what you don't like about it I doubt that it's 20" wheels by themselves. Run flats are known to be a really harsh ride.

I don't think they are run flats. They are Goodyear Eagle all seasons but I also hate the black and the style isn't really me. I may be just imagining the stiffer ride. But I really had a smooth ride in my 2012 and the only real difference in the two cars is the tires. Either way, I just don't like the look of the 20s and since I have the 18s in the garage I do like, I'm not real keen on spending money for a 3rd set of rims if I can reuse the ones I have. PROVIDING THEY WILL FIT PROPERLY.

If they are OEM tires they are run flats and gen 5s rims won't fit on the gen 6 platform.

Are you sure it's not just the "Driver"? They did work on the spring set up and tighten up the whole Camaro. I like the run flats they plant the tires better on the drag strip. But again that's just me.

My wife's 2023 3LT RS has Goodyear all season, non-run flats.

I've owned 6 5th gens, all kinds of 5th gens. Just picked up my 1st 6th gen a couple months ago. The platforms are very different, almost no comparison.
You're fine on the lug pattern, no worries there. I've had several sets of 6th gen wheels on my 5th gens over the years. My bigger concern is your 5th gen 18" wheel clearing your 6th gen calipers. Best way to find out is to pull a front wheel off and test fit your 18" wheel on it. Then you'll know for sure. You'll also need some tall tires to keep your speedo and electronics in check. Most likely, you are currently running oem ZPs and will benefit from switching to non run flats.
