GM CAI isn't difficult to do. The tune at the dealership is included and it includes a sheet telling the dealer how to record it. It's tied to your VIN that you supply when you order.

Cyrus is in Canada. Today $1 US = $1.31 CDN.

I couldn’t recall if he was Canada or not. The cost makes sense then.

No engine mods so ya shouldn't be difficult. I think I will try doing it myself, more sanctification also.

True, you have to go to the dealer either way and its only 0.6Hr labor. Kinda surprised GM only charges 0.6Hr for this install it must take that and more when including the ECM update.

31 cents to the dollar

I checked the current listing and didn't see any point where you enter your VIN. Maybe that isn't a requirement now. It was part of the order and is printed on the sheet authorizing the dealer to do the tune.

I don’t think you have to provide a vin to buy the CAI, but I do believe the dealer has to enter a vin in the system that pays them for doing the work in order for GM to confirm they are legitimately doing the work on an applicable vehicle. I also think they log it so that if you ever take the vehicle to another dealer for warranty work, when the dealer tech checks the PCM and sees that it’s been updated, there’s a record saying that it was updated by GM in warranty. They also put a sticker on your shock tower confirming that the tune is 50-state compliant. You can see my sticker right under Al O’s signature.

I do not have that sticker. My GM CAI Intake unit was pre the 50 state/CARB legal design.

At the time I bought mine about three years ago, I had to enter the VIN during the purchase checkout. It may be because I purchased it online and would need to take it to the dealer for the tune. It is printed on the instruction sheet that I took to the dealer for the tune. I put the 50 state sticker on the metal fan/radiator shroud.

I’ve seen some people put the ZL1 (not the ZL1 1LE wing) spoiler on and buy a couple stripe kits and make it work.

Had a couple great road trips the last few weeks. Drove to the Outer Banks a few weeks ago. This weekend drove up into the mountains to Knoxville, TN then down to Pigeon Forge and on to Gatlinburg before the drive back to Raleigh. Had a blast.

My Uniden R3 and WAZE saved me three times from having a heavy foot. Also discovered my Laser detection must be turned off and need to check that. The guy behind me got splashed and pulled over. Luckily I was tailgating a guy trying to get him to pull to the right but he inadvertantly saved my butt. Still annoying that these left lane cruisers will not get over.

When at the beach I saw the sign below while visiting the Wright Brothers Memorial, and thought since I have an A8 with AFM and my mileage topped 30mpg on the cruise to the beach I should qualify to park there but didn't want to have that conflict with a park ranger.

(apologize for the sideways picture)

Sounds like a great trip! Waze and the R3 is the same setup I run.

As for laser detection. It’s hit or miss (not just a Uniden thing). It depends on where you get hit. As well as if it goes off. It’s too late. You’ve been tagged. It’s a nice feature but I don’t rely on it.

And yeah left lane slowpokes suck.

You should’ve parked there. Took a pic then moved lol.

I got "splashed" a few weeks ago. Had Waze going but I don't have a radar detector. Might have to change that. Stupid thing was, I wasn't trying to speed. I was taking my kid to work because he was late and his car was having issues. Switched lanes to make an exit to my left. Noticed an unmarked Charger finishing with a Mustang GT vert on the right shoulder. Next thing I know he's on my bumper, then the lights. Must've had a thing for fast convertibles that day.

Said he clocked me at 90 in a 55. He was cool about it and only wrote me for 65. Paid the ticket, then got a letter from the Secretary of State saying that if I took a 4-hour safe driving course, it would be as though nothing ever happened. It wouldn't be reported to insurance and I wouldn't get the point on my license. Took about 0.04 seconds to take that deal.

Wish I was offered that class when I lived in Lake Orion. Only letter I got was an appointment for an inverview to explain why I have such a heavy foot. LOL

I highly recommend the R3. R7 if you want arrows.
