Clearance Front Splitter (Front and Side)?
Guys,
For those of you who are lucky enough to have your ZL1's I was hoping someone might be kind enough to take a tape measure and tell me the distance from the front black splitter to the payment and from the side as well. The reason I am wanting to know this is I have a slanted driveway and I am very concerned about it the car rubbing and or scratching the payment as I drive into my driveway. I need to prepare now and need these measurements. Thanks in advance.

I would also like to know how people are faring in the concrete jungles. I don't even know if I can make it out of my garage at work without looking like cammisa at the beginning of the M4 GTS ignition episode

you will most likely be perfectly fine as long as you come in and out on a angle. 4 inches is plenty. my evo x was definitely lower than 4 inches and never had a problem with my inclined driveway or entrance ramps to places.

Yes that is what I currently do (come in and out on an angle) with my Acura TL which has the A-Spec package on it. Surprisingly it is 6" off the ground where the Zl1 is 4"...yikes. That 2" is going to make a difference unfortunately. My TL just barley clears so the Zl1 will most likely scrape. I am guessing the splitter washers will help a lot.

Has anyone "amazon'ed" those washers? $56 for some plastic pieces is crazy, I'm sure they must exist for some other industry application.

They're actually made of steel, and saved my 1LE splitter several times. 50 bucks for some little pieces is crazy till you think about how expensive that splitter is to repair/replace.

You should not have a problem with the splitter itself unless you go head on into a steep entry/exit without caution, but rather the guard below it. There is a rubber guard right below the splitter and that's what scrapes, along with the plastic cover underneath the car that some have already mentioned.
I have a bad driveway entrance for any car that's not an SUV. It kinda sucks but with a board down, it will scrape slightly if at all. I'm still trying to find a viable solution without having to have the entrance re-paved or have the angle reduced with asphalt. I would definitely get the splitter covered with PPF, along with the rocker panels. They will get beat up from road debris and chip the paint. I have my entire front end, rockers and lower quarter panels covered in XPel film. Worth the investment in my opinion. One thing to consider: speak with the installer about how they tuck the film underneath the splitter and rockers. Because the underside of these parts will take so much abuse from road debris, it will begin to peel up. It's worth while to ask the installer about tucking the film just slightly under these parts. Hope that makes sense.
