Or the pictures are linked from another site & that link has been broken somehow. Image hosting sites often have a brandwidth cap for a free account, so after X number of views the images can no longer be viewed. And websites occasionally rework their URLs which would cause any old links to become useless

This is why I don't like using photobucket and like sites.
Upload them to C5 instead of linking URLS that eventually change and the pictures will remain.
