GM has moved the Camaro upscale. Nothing wrong with that, and I actually think it's great, but the trade off is that people who would have previously been able to buy one may not now.
But you can still get a V6 1LT with all the performance goodies for 31k or a 1SS for 36k... both will outperform any model prior to the 5th gen, and adjusted for inflation it's about the same amount of money one would spend on a Camaro in 2002.

Also, as someone so eloquently pointed out, those who are saying don't know, those who know aren't saying.

This is true, it's also true we can take some fairly good guesses based on a number of factors:

Last ZL1
Current competitors
other Chevy models

I'm hoping base 61K, that leaves some room to check a few boxes.
Agree.

$65,195 GT350R with electronics package
$65,190 M6 Hellcat Challenger
$68,185 A8 Hellcat Challenger

The ZL1 will cost at least $65k.

If you have no intention of buying a 6thGen, or can't even afford the SS, please don't bore us again griping about the ZL-1 price.

It's actually more

A 2001 Camaro SS could be max loaded to 32,780 in 2001. Adjusted for inflation that's over $42,000 now.

^^ he's right.

at least according to this site. http://www.usinflationcalculator.com/

oh...here it is directly from the Government: of course I understand that they are evil and would never give us factual data, but here you go.

Wouldn't it be great if Chevy built a car that could beat both of those for less?

Base 1LT C7=$55, 400
Base 1LZ C7=$79, 400
Difference is $24,000

Base 1SS =$37, 295 so add $24k and we're just under $62k. I'm hoping it'll be close to this and they'll accept GMS pricing. Obviously everything is speculation at this point but I just don't see them putting it within "spitting distance" (price wise) of the Z06.

Most likely your price will increase in the exact same way the SS increased. Minimum 3 grand increase over base to a maximum 6 grand increase over base of previous gen. 58k-61k starting price. I swear I've read somewhere that if previous ZL1 buyers could afford it, then the new generation shouldn't be a problem.

Unless they go by a percentage increase. Then I'd have to do the math, and I don't feel like math'ing today.

Under the Equipment section, last sentence.

One man's price gouge is another man's dividends.

Only one catch with that concept...Recaro seats are now standard, previously a $1995 option. Also suede steering wheel/shifter was an option, now is standard.

So that is at least $2500 of additional equipment built into the price, BEFORE any general increases...

That's interesting. I seem to recall those additional equipment prices being discussed and assumed they would be very highly discounted and a lot less when applied to the 1LE option. Adding known accessory prices for each item included in the 1LE package would make it over 10 grand, probably. 2500 Recaros and suede, 2600 for NPP and MRC, that's over 5K for just three of the 1LE items. But doubtful that will be the case. Can't see Recaros being top dollar for the ZL-1, and not even a factor (so to speak) for the 1LE...just sayin'...

I agree. I guess the point is we don't know how this is all going to go, just yet. Lots of variables.
If the 1LE package's price is reasonable...it bodes very well for the price of a ZL1.
