Does anyone know of a VIN decoder that can reliably tell if a ZL1 is optioned with the 1LE package or not? Too many idiot dealers with stock pictures and/or have no idea what a 1LE package is. I'd rather just get the VIN, plug it in somewhere, and confirm for myself if I'm looking at the standard or the 1LE that I actually want.

the only sure fire way to tell would be to get the dealer to send you a picture of the rpo codes under the trunk liner.

this too, lol. the wing and front canards are a huge giveaway. But if he's worried about someone that tried to clone a zl1, all the black accent pieces (splitter, side skirts and rear diffuser, i think side mirrors as well) are a satin black. on a regular zl1 they are mosaic metallic black.

If you are looking for new, most dealership websites have a link for "window sticker" for the car and that will show you the options. Then you can see if 1LE option is on the car or not.

You can send an email to socialmedia@gm.com with the VIN number and they can send you an email with the window sticker or build sheet.

I don't get dealers leaving the stock pictures on there. I mean, it's not as if we're not living in the digital age.

Besides the serial number, just look at pictures or ask for a picture under the hood of the strut top tower, it will always be blue. I have a ZL1 that previous owner put all OEM 1LE parts on, My car looks like a 1LE except for my 20 inch wheels he had powder coated black, I wanted a real 1LE, but the last test drive changed my mind, anyway the look with magnetic ride is great ! Good luck !

Thanks for the feedback guys. The RPO route seems the way to go. I'm looking mostly for 1-3 years used and most of these dealers aren't posting window stickers even though they clearly mention it's available...

And yes, coming from the Vette, it's too often I see aftermarket splitters, side skirts, wings, etc. I want to make sure I don't fly 600 miles to see a fake 1LE priced at real 1LE prices.

Non-1LE also has aluminum front suspension parts right? I guess you mean the aluminum bodies of the DSSVs vs. steel body mag ride dampers?

From the outside take a quick look at the brake calipers. The 1LEs are red. It seems that the folks that add the aero bits don’t care to change that part.

I used the website below extensively when researching ZLE’s. There is a small fee for each Window Sticker, but it’s worth it to cut through the chaff for me. The ‘ZL1 1LE Extreme Track Performance Package’ ($7500) option will show up on the Monroney label. Plug in your VIN and you’re home free.

It was my understanding that part of the weight savings measures were aluminum front suspension members. Iirc that was part of the savage geese's video. I'll have to go watch it again!!!
