no garage door open in 19 ZLE but one in 20 corvette

Hi, has any one looked into putting a garage door opener in the 2019 ZL1 1LE ?
the new 2020 corvette has one in the drivers visor, it seems like one could be added to the 19 camaro?
has anyone tried installing a 20 corvette visor with garage door opener in the camaro?

Alot of garage doors can be opened with an app on your phone. If it's wifi enabled

19 ZLE doesn’t have the home-link? Did they change that in 19MY? My 18 ZLE has one. I would imagine you could put the same one I have in the 18MY into the 19MY.

Instead of yielding control over my garage doors to an unknown third party in the cloud, downloading an app, then having to fumble with the phone and taking my eyes off the road when turning into the driveway whenever I return from a drive, I'd just mount this into the headliner and be done with it: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00A79G9FY

Their excuse was that there was not enough "room" in the overhead console after they added the new display-mirror.

But as we can clearly see from the corvette visor (which has existed for about a decade or longer) this story from gm* is BS.

The Camaro unit used up through '18 is a one-piece model, whereas the corvette has the buttons in the visor but the electronics in a separate module. This two-piece unit could have easily been installed into the Camaro.

I double sided taped my garage door remote to the upper part by rear view mirror on left side. Not visible and easy to use.

this seems doable, i would rather replace the visor if i could?

Check with gen5diy and see if they have a harness to retrofit an 18 into a 19..?

I used VELCRO on the back of the garage remote. It easily attaches to the carpet beneath the console, next to the drivers knee.

Or, on the drivers side headliner above the visor there is a shallow indentation which will accept a remote. Use VELCRO there leaving the button for your opener exposed so you don't even have to pull the visor down. Don't need to over think this.

Well, the C8 visor looks altogether different to me on photos, I'm not sure it's interchangeable with ours. I would probably stuff this into the headliner near the overhead console if my car didn't have homelink.

Alternatively, you can try and work it into your current visor. The problem there is the vanity mirror & lights that may not allow enough space, the wireup, plus you'd need to come up with a clean way to tuck the wires once you hooked the controller up.

Sorry I can't be more helpful, I haven't done anything around the visor yet and the car is in storage, so I can't check it. The overhead console can definitely "offer" +12V and ground for a homelink remote, but that's pretty much all I know. The visor might could also be tapped for power.

This is your opportunity for a unique, innovative approach

funny because they ZLE don't even have the digital mirror capability as no camera
