It's funny the last camarofest I attended I talked to all the gm guys ( Al, Scott, and 1 other) at the parking lot party for a good while. I really wanted them to listen and change things up I'm sure it sounded like a complaint.. I wanted them to consider a trap door for the fuel pump, more robust bottom end, design a fuel system that can go further, some kind of special edition with the LT5 pretty much stuff Ford does ... Nada zilch, zippo has happened! All they mentioned is that they were upset from the computers being tampered with and they wanted to sale cars with a spare a spare computer that can be programmed I guess they wanted to get in on the action. They put a wrench into the 19 zr1 and the c8 and the trans tune for the 20 plus seems like a hassle.
I know hey got to turn a profit but dang I wish someone with some interest like us was running the show.

I would actually prefer if they put an n/a version of the 6.2 or an updated 7.0 in one and give it the Z/28 badge... as much as the ZL1 1LE is fun on track, an n/a motor would be much better suited and a ton of fun.

I don’t think the Camaro ZL1 will get the LT5. And, I wouldn’t have cancelled my order for my ‘21 ZL1 with an LT4 that was delivered last month to wait for a ‘23 with an LT5. But, if it was an option when I ordered I’d have checked the box and paid up to $5k for the LT5 in my Z. An extra 100 rwhp for $5k with a warranty? Heck yeah. If it was $8-10k I don’t know that I’d pay that much premium for an LT5.

my idea of the perfect Gen6 Z/28 (were they to make it!): same exact LT4 powerplant as what we have in the ZL1 1LE now. 6 sp manual only transmission. put in a shorter rear end gear to max out 6th at 170 mph at 6500 rpm. AND ---- make it light! the Z/28 would be the ultimate track Camaro/street fighter -- make it light and lose 300-400 lbs. it's doable, too I think: get lighter forged wheels. and that lightweight AP brake setup (like is for sale on this forum). and replace the heavy Recaro heated/cooled seats with lightweight carbon bucket seats with manual adjustment instead of all that electrical heavy stuff (similar to whats optional on the GT3 RS). and a lightweight carbon hood and llghtweight carbon trunk. and rear seat delete. and trunk carpeting delete and sound deadener delete. and a super lightweight exhaust (maybe titanium without the sound valves; just always in loud mode would be just fine thanks). delete the fancy sound system and infotainment. get rid of the heated wheel. put on lightweight door panels and remove some of the extra trimmings inside. offer AC delete as an option (or make it standard and make AC an option; thats better yet). make the Z/28 3500 lbs wet and it shorten the gearing and otherwise leave the LT4 engine alone and you'd have a KILLER track weapon. it'd be right there laptimewise against a '19 ZR1 ZTK with the LT5, and it wouldn't require GM to certify a totally different engine and spend shitloads of money on a dying platform.
damn man I'd have my order in in 30 secs flat for the Z/28 described above! |

Clearly we need to get GM to do a group buy with 500 folks willing to spend $75k for the LT5 for an out the door "punish the pony" send off.
Now where are 500 folks with there $10k non refundable deposits??? |

Nope, the only engine you’ll see in the next gen Camaro will consist of batteries.

Or you can take that nice LT4 you have and swap the blower out for a maggie 2650 and even make more power......
