JD64 - thanks. I too am thinking about secondary cat delete - just to clarify - are you saying that the secondary cats are in place with these oem clamps? Do they come off without cuts? And then just get new clamps to put the 3” cat delete pipes? How many of them would you need-2 for each side? Thanks for your help.

AWE Catback with Link Pipes
Quote:
the front side of the secondary cats on each side are a clamp / bolted connection, the rear of the secondary cat is part of the original exhaust and has to be cut for removal. i removed my original exhaust all in 1 piece which includes the secondary cats, i wanted to do that so i could keep the entire factory exhaust in tact for future owners if i sold the car. i installed a borla cat back S type system along with the awe link pipes, since borla didn't make the link pipes any longer. i was a little worried about fitment using 2 different companies but it was perfect. the link pipes are a direct replacement for the secondary cats. if you are going to use the oe exhaust you will have to cut the original front pipes in the correct spot behind the secondary cats. the front side of the secondary cats have a bolted flange on the right side and a ball type/shoulder flange fit on the left side, that is where the clamp we are talking about comes into play. it holds that joint together and also seals it at the same time. you will need 2 accu seal 2 3/4" band clamps. napa part # 733-3987 for the rear of each link pipe, either the original clamp or a new GM clamp #22860193 for the front of the left link pipe and a flange gasket GM# 21992620 for the bolted flange on the front of the right link pipe.

Yes +1 for this system. I have the AWE track system with PLP. Absolutely love this system. Anyone have issues with the exhaust tips? I align them perfectly to my liking but after driving it and it gets heated, the tips push out about a half inch+ more from where i want it to be. Then they move back to where i originally had it after it cools. I've torqued everything to specs and then some trying to resolve this. So anyone have this issue too and what is the fix for this. TIA!

I dont think it's the tips that are moving. I think it may be the axle back portion of the pipes that are moving or some other part of the exhaust.

My AWE chrome tips are starting to show some wear from polishing over the last two years time. I'll have traded the car very soon and it'll be the next guys problem but the chrome hasn't been as durable in my experience. They look phenomenal out of the box but two years later the chrome is starting to give up.

I haven't check lately, but they did have them. Just checked they still have some. Higher price than what AWE was selling them for, but they are the only source. |
