Has anyone tried this Nav from GM?

I was wondering if anyone has bought this and/or is using it. I was thinking about it. I know Waze and Google Maps does the same thing in our cars, but I hate plugging my phone in all the time to use Android Auto. Here's the Navigation "upgrade" that I'm speaking of: https://gmauthority.com/blog/2019/09...9-2020-camaro/

Factory nav haters entering the topic in 3... 2... 1...

That aside, I'm with you on detesting USB "cable management", plus I love the cluster and HUD integration of the factory nav. Notwithstanding that, I'm waiting for my AAWireless unit that is supposed to make Android Auto available wirelessly even on older cars, I'd like to give it a try as a secondary option, or for running Waze together with GM navigation, or maybe just to have several options to choose from.

I have the factory Nav and not the upgrade kit but it looks interesting. A couple of things I like about the factory Nav is it works when I drive up in the mountains and the cell service drops off. Also like the directions showing up on the HUD and the speed limit showing up in the gauge cluster.

OK, my $0.02

I use AA in my Camaro 2ss - NON-NAV radio
I use Factory NAV in my RAM uconnect

The factory NAV is just as good anymore. A fews year ago AA was super superior. Now not so much.

All this said, the second some one asks me to pay for an update on a Factory NAV I have already paid $100s for (maybe more) they can kiss my ass, I will run AA.

I already pay $$ for my phone and the car. No need to feed the masses anymore.

My laziness is overwhelming but not enough to not plug in a cable.

I wouldn't mind looking into this, but the part number (84250952) listed in the article doesn't come up as anything. Just links to the same article and posts here on C6. I wonder if the # changed or discontinued.

It was only an SD card that you put in the slot in the center console and it updated the system and gave you nav....but as stated, I don't see it available anymore. I looked on Friday last week and was going to pull the trigger and didn't because I wanted a to do some other upgrades first. Now it might be too late....

I actually like it because if it's like Dodge's nav system, I can set a mph over the speed limit for the roads I'm on rather then a generic speed. Seeing as how all of my driving it between 25mph and 70mph on almost every road trip. So that's why I was interested in it. I wanted to see if that was possible. If it is, then I don't need a radar detector....LMAO....

I always liked factory NAV until I got my 2011 Tundra - that was horrendous. After that, it's been a mix of so-so and good. The GM one isn't necessarily bad, but the overall system is laggy and does some things sort of backwards from what you might expect.

I much prefer Waze over anything else because it's consistent across platforms and includes the live traffic info that you typically have to pay for with the in-car systems. Google Maps is a close second, but it can also be a but quirky at times.

Like others, I'm not a fan of the cabling thing, especially in the Camaro, but overall I get a repeatable, good experience with AA. I'm curious to see how the Wireless version of AA and Car Play are in the 2021 and up models although you'll still have to cable up the phone for charging purposes... At least with that, I can use a standard high-output charger in the accessory socket and leave my USB ports for flash drives with music...

i prefer factory nav also for all the reasons already mentioned. especially the integration with the HUD. So i recently installed the White Automotive and Media Systems factory nav and wireless car play upgrade, i'am waiting for all of the winter gravel to be cleaned up off of the roads so i can get the car out and give a good try but from what i can see so far in the garage and out in the drive way it is awesome. the wireless car play connects fast and consistent , i also sent them my cluster for additional custom programming to project the nav guidance to the HUD, that also seems to work very well. installation was no problem either, a brand new already programmed 2021 radio module is also part of the package. the price for the complete upgrade is very fair considering it is plug and play. the un programmed radio module alone is $550-$800 from GM depending where you buy it, then it has to be programmed and so does the cluster for the integrated nav. i did add the extra wifi antenna in the dash that they recommenced since my car is a '19 it didn't have the extra antenna , i believe the 20's & 21's do already have it.

i don't know if this is accurate info or not but my buddy at the dealership told me the nav card upgrade is no longer available and GM no longer supports the necessary programming needed for the install. he spoke to their GM rep about it, for what that is worth ??

I know that the SDCARD slot is present on cars with the navigation radio as that's where the map data is stored. I do not know whether there is still an SDCARD slot in cars with the Infotainment Plus system (non-navi). Check between the USB ports in the center console as that's where it is on my car with navigation (Infotainment Premium system).
