Adding SS wheels to my LS

I will be buying some SS wheels for my LS. Besides tires, do I need to remount/rebalance them? I am getting new tires for them. Also how about the TPMS?

If they have tires already, you might be fine without re-balancing them but it couldn't hurt. As far as the TPMS goes, I think you have to have the sensors programmed to the car by the dealer unless someone here has a DIY post for doing that.

Yea can't hurt to just have a place throw them on the way they are and fix the balance if needed... I did the swap to my ls and my 2012 I just needed to deflate them to like 20 and then back up to 35 and they relearned by themselves no tools or anything I do believe you have to go to the screen with the pressures and hold set or something like that

You have to remove the tpms sensors anytime you dismount a tire. That breaks the valve stem off them 75% of the time so that's nothing unusual replace all 4 of them anyway, cheaply. Or the more expensive route would be buying 4 new sensors.

On a 2011 I believe you can still program your TPMS system without any special tools. If you are able to the owner's manual for your car will contain instructions on how to do so.

TPMS have to be mounted before the tire, on the inside on the rim. Otherwise, how would they Measure the Tire Pressure?

Any time you change the tire on a wheel it needs to be rebalanced unless its over 40" because then it really doesn't help anyway (I use balance beads on the big stuff but I digress)

If your taking the tires off your stock wheels as well, you can use those TPMS, but be sure to keep track of where they came off of. As mentioned the valve tends to break when they remove the tire, but it can be fixed for a few bucks each.

If you use the TPMS from the SS wheels (if they come with TPMS units) you will need to do a relearn. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=170203

If you get new TPMS they are $35-$40 each.

Forgive me for thinking this thread was about installing TPMS...

I'm still not 100% sure what "them" meant, so can't say I agree with you on that...

You can get TPMS on amazon for about $30 each or eBay for $15-20 each (even less if you buy a set of 4). Buying from the dealer/shop will run you a premium.

I know when I bought SS wheels and tires off this site they were practically the same circumference as the 18's I had on my 1LT at the time. so didn't need to flash anything to get them to work with the car. never had an issue the 3.5 years I had it.
