The "value" of anything, is understanding what it can do and whether you believe it will be of any value to you.
Regardless of whether you use OnStar often or only in an emergency, you just need to ask yourself one question; whether the "value" of its availability supersedes the "cost" of having access to it... Well? Do you, punk?

Call them to cancel, they will cut you a better deal than the one they sent or emailed.

I let mine go cause I rarely drive it. But in my 2014 GMC Sierra, I let it go from that one too. I prefer to spend the money on my Xm radio.

I will say that from having it in the past on a different car (in my free trial period in the Camaro, right now) that Onstar can get a cellular call out sometimes when a smartphone with a really short antenna cant. I read somewhere that the radio amplifiers in the cell sending unit is much more powerful than in a regular pocket device cell phone. That was useful on many different occasions.
I don't think the directions/connections feature is that robust. Not considering what a smartphone with a GPS app can do these days. And the rest of the stuff...vehicle diagnostics and remote unlock capability is kind of fluff for me. |

Mine ends next month too. Won't keep the directions part, have nav. installed, but weighting options on the roadside/emergency part. Nice to have if stuck somewhere, or in an accident and can't call 911, they will take care of it for you and send help.
Guess more of a piece of mind with that part of it. Hopefully they will cut a better deal if I let it run out and wait for them to call me. |

I have the trial and will not pay for the service.
In fact, I think it should be free considering it monitors your car and can send alerts to your local dealer. That is a lead generator for them. I found the navigation to be poor. I don't have mylink, but my iPhone or GPS unit is fine by me. The accident feature is also something that should be free. Onstar knows if the airbags deployed but will let you "die" if the service isn't active. Hmmmmmm. And the remote features, lock start horn dashboard, are fun but not worth paying for.
