Coolant Temperature Rise After CAI Intake install
Hi Everyone! Today I installed a CAI from Cold Air Inductions in my 2012 LS, before the Install my Coolant Temperature would rise to 181 and the fans would kick in but after the install the temperature went past 200 the fans didn't go on. Im worried if I did something wrong I don't want my Engine overheating or having any kind of damage.

First thing: your coolant does not boil at 212*F.
Your cooling system is kept at higher than atmospheric pressure. The usual is 15psi. 15psi means 247*F boilover Second, did you have to disconnect anything electrical to install the CAI?

Unless you have the AC on then the fans will always be on

I only disconnected the MAF sensor and put it on the new intake tube, The car runs fine but that sudden hike in coolant temp worries me a lot

Here is a thread I started a year ago on it > http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=299196
But I would think you are fine, I'm just not sure why your fans would kick on at 181 before the CAI install. Make sure you check your coolant level, these cars run hot. |
