Track Gas Inquiry

Hey guys. Im going to run at Gingerman Raceway with CGI in June. I havent tracked the car before so I was curious about gas usage. Do you guys buy gas at the track? Should I bring empty jugs and fill them up outside the track? How many jugs would I need to be safe? How much gas will I go through? Its roughly 140 minutes of drive time on a 2.14 mile track. Really not sure what to expect so any tips would be great!

I usually budget a tank to drive to gingerman, a tank at the track, and a tank home.

You'll be getting about 8 mpg at the track if you want to do math.
But most tracks have a gas station semi-nearyby.

Happy driving!!

Count on about 4-5mpg on the track, so about 80-100 miles to the tank.

93 octane at the track costs $7.00 per gallon at Sebring. Luckily there is a Shell about 3 miles away so I fill up there after every two 30 min sessions.

Bring empty jugs and fill them close to the track if you can transport them safely.

There's a Shell station just down the street. Basically turn right out of the gate to head east and it's just under 6 miles down the road (right next to I-196) You'll probably use about 3/4 of a tank before lunch and about 7/8 of a tank after, so I usually go fill up there at the start of the day, during lunch, then again on the way home. Not worth messing with gas cans IMO.

Depending on which way you head in and out, there's another Shell in Bangor that's on the way if you're coming via I-94 but it's kinda out of the way for a lunch break stop.

You don't want to buy at the track unless you absolutely have to. It's stupid expensive there as it will be at pretty much any track.

Hmm so with this you dont bring any gas with you to the track? That may be the best thing to do so I dont have to haul a jug of it there

Nope, it's close enough that you can easily make it between sessions if you had to since you've got 40 mins downtime between runs.

I burn about 1/4 tank per session usually and never by gas at the track if you can avoid it

Just FYI three 6.5 gallon jugs fit perfectly at the back of the trunk. Depending on nearby stations location i usually bring all 3 or just one (just in case). For the latter scenario i still bring 3 jugs but 2 are empty ( to secure the full jug). This still leaves tons of space in the trunk even for a weekend trip. Cheers!
PS does Shell in the States carry 93 octane?
