Yes sir easier to cut more off then to extend and weld more back in place. Form what I hear and a buddy of mine says the 12" vibrant bottles didn't do much if anything.
Me personally I am torn between the magnaflow 14419 or the Borla resonator 60608- 2.75" with a couple weld necks to get to 3" of our Borla Stype catback.

Has anyone ever tried this? Magnaflow 3"resonator 14419 or the Borla resonator 60608?
I sent my magnaflow 12469 back to summit Racing. Gonna order something Monday night

Resonators

I have the borla 60606 x pipe and just installed their 12in resonators. And love the sound. Took away the annoying startup. And sounds deeper. On my 2017 zl1

I did have great success!! Had to weld on some adapters couplings and was able to clamp the Borla resonator 60608. The sound is amazing IMO. Deep more refined tone. Have gotten a ton of compliments since the install. And st WOT itnis still loud smooth. It roars. It was worth it all. Wish Borla would make a 3" resonator to fit the 3" ZL1 catback.

Here's a link to some videos of my car in various stages of exhaust, goes like this:

Borla 60606 w/ Kooks axle back (LOUD)

Borla 60606 + 60608 w/ Kooks axle back (less loud)

Borla 60606 + 60608 + J-pipes w/ Kooks axle back (perfect)

Sure, can’t remember the length, but my local speed shop did a hell of a job with them!

Not a ZL1, but Maggie equipped SS. Unless you guys are hell bent on going catless I would try reinstalling your factory NPP exhaust with LT headers and high flow or green cats. That's what I'm running and I think it sounds great, slightly louder than stock but no raspiness or drone. At last year's CamaroFest, I'll bet I got a dozen compliments on my idle exhaust tone. Guys couldn't believe it was the stock system.

My exhaust system front to back.
1 7/8" Kooks headers with high flow cats
Borla Catback Stype 3" exhaust with NPP
First had this but it was a bit on the rowdy side at WOT and cold starts.
I then installed the Borla resonator which is 2 3/4" I have to fab up some connectors to attach in the straight section of the catback.
Sounds great IMO. Still loud not quite as loud without but smooth and deep. No drone.

The green cats will melt too. First track day melted mine. I hollowed them out and it is obnoxious
