I just get my oil changed at the dealer.... is that only the Dexos1 stuff?... I already tracked my car on that once but it was a pretty small track... Not really looking forward to a $120 oil change. The ****s at the dealership don't know shit about anything.

I think it's odd 2016-18's call for 5w-30 and now the 2019's call for 0w-40, you have stared why but still weird...
Agree the dealers dont even know what a 1le is. Never mind what oil should be used. If you went to a dealer for a std oil change they proly gave ya standard 5w30 which is NOT track certified. Small track or big track doesnt matter and often times small track will be harder as cooling capability might be less. It is all about rpm and traffic.

Note that 5w30 is still listed as valid oil for dd ONLY even in 2019 manual. So no change there at all since 2016.
And frankly, since GM never came out and said do NOT use 5w40 dexos2 no change here either. So both 5 and 0w40 dexos2 are ok for BOTH dd and track duty.
GM 2019 manual doesnt even list Mobil 1 by name as the recommended 0w40. So this is all just a marketing hoopla by Mobil 1 imo.

For non-track use, I've always believed you should use the LIGHTEST weight oil that is within the recommended range for your ambient temperatures.

Seriously? Do you really think that? LOL

When I first purchased my 18 1LE I had recently received my YouTube diploma for completing some basic research on the car.

Still, you expect that maybe your dealership would at least have slightly more knowledge about the car than you do.
Just after I took delivery, I ended up rubbing a spot of vinyl from the rear of the hood.

"I went to close the hood while the windshield arms were up" and rubbed the vinyl off.

Time for some touch up paint.

The service advisor at the dealership sent me over to the parts department to order the correct touch up paint.

For 45 minutes I stood at the counter while the parts guy along with his supervisor looked for the correct part number for "touch up paint for the Vinyl wrap on the 1LE "

Finally they contacted GM and asked why their was no part # for touch up paint for the flat black hood on the 18 1LE.

Not the salesman, Not Service or parts knew that the flat black on the hood of the 1LE was Vinyl and not Paint.

I think part of the problem is how GM markets these cars. Specifically, making it just an option vs a different model a la Boss 302, or GT350, or even a Bulitt - like Ford does. Thankfully they all seem to know what a ZL1 is

All here is a chart from Mobil 1 depicting the actual differences in motor oil between the their regular 0w-40 motor oil and 0w-40 ESP which is recommended for LT4 motors.

Dont know what other cars you have but a Camaro requires Dexos2 oil. See my post in Mechanical section for details on Camaro oils. Cheers!
