If the dealership cannot produce the required documentation that you owe them money, then they have no reason to make you pay it. They certainly couldn’t prove it in court.

When I was a general manager, and we had any type of billing discrepancy because my people did not get the required paperwork/estimates etc. it became free of charge. It really can’t be any other way. Employee in this case was penalized or replaced.

Maybe I’m missing some details here, but they should let this go as a live and learn situation. Estimates and signatures have to match up to payments (period). They’ve now lost a customer...the amount of effort as heartache they’ve caused themselves, including you is disproportionate to $$ owed.

I may have lost myself but per what you mentioned in the second to last paragraph you paid the signed estimate already right? Why would you owe them anything else?

I should of questioned this at the time, but my dog died that day and I didn't think to.
Making sure I'm clear here. You paid aprox $500. Does the original invoice state what was included? If the collision repairs, oil change, and wiper blades are clearly included in that invoice which you signed, they shot themselves in the foot and you owe them jack.

Did that invoice not include some of those items?

You could pay it in good faith if you want to continue using that dealership if you really like their work...there is value in that, otherwise there's nothing they can do.

Did you check with the Bodyshop manager? The invoice for the collision repair might be there at the collision shop if there is one at the dealership. Just an idea!

Sitting here with my best bud from college while he has some medical treatments done. He was one of the premier debt lawyers in his heyday before retirement. I let him read your post, He says they won’t do anything for a couple hundred bucks, just go silent and let them prove it in the legal system. They won’t, their lawyer they use won’t touch this for less than $500 in billable time.....

If you have an invoice showing paid in full @ $1700, and they cannot produce a signed written estimate authorizing a higher amount or 2nd document authorizing additional work, then they're SOL and next time they should try harder to not suck so much at business.

If they go the credit reporting route, submit your paid in full invoice to the credit reporting agency with a succinct explanation. And then file a harassment complaint with GM.
