Been doing HPDE days for 20 years and I've never refreshed my calipers.

• My piston boots are toast, and will be again if i replace them.
• I run 1mm TI shims to keep heat out of the caliper.
• I run the track ducts in the front.

1. How much would one charge for a caliper refresh?
2. What's involved?

Its relatively easy job just pull the calipers, use compressed air to pop the pistons then remove boots an seals, and then reverse the process. Rock Auto, Racing Brake, and Giro Disc have the seals an boots. It’s also a good time to get vented pistons if not already installed. Rock Auto for OEM pistons and Racing Brake for the scalloped style piston.

For the stock SS 1LE calipers (J6M), you can use the J56 Corvette vented pistons (PN 23242510) which are the correct length for that caliper. You need one kit per caliper. That PN kit comes with the pressure seals. PN 19207044 is the kit for dust seals (one kit per caliper).

For the J6H (both regular and BCD size front calipers), you use the same dust seal PN but use 19207043 for the longer vented pistons, one kit per caliper.

I've never done a caliper rebuild before but with the correct info, parts and tools I was able to rebuilt my fronts with vented pistons and high temp dust boots and they work so well I no longer run Ti shims.
Whether you do it yourself or have a shop do it, you definitely want the vented pistons. Some don't like the RB high temp boots because they are not to be exposed to brake fluid, but I didn't have any issues following the instructions and they are holding up great.

I replaced my OEM dust boots with the high temp ones and they've been great. The OEM ones were cooked after a few trackdays.
