Major A8 Transmission Issue!

So...issue really started yesterday, was having an issue shifting from 1st to 2nd gear, RPMs revved up, then would buck wildly into 2nd gear. My A8 has been finicky from day 1, now I am seeing that it is something definitely wrong with it. Today left for work, CEL came on, A8 was even worse today. Just called the dealer, car is going in after lunch, was waiting for them to check the oil pan recall, to either clear me or fix that, so that is being looked at as well, along with the AA My Link update and oil change. Will report back what they find! Ugggg!

Update...dropped the car off this afternoon, dealer cheked car out, CEL was throwing 50 codes! They had to call GM, GM said to reflash ECM and test drive. Technician did that a little while ago and drove perfect, no shifting issues! They want to keep it overnight, inside of course lol, and do a test drive on cold start to make sure. Also engraved numbers on oil pan, no need for fixed, cleared. AA update was almost done when they called. So far this looks like a dodged a huge bullet, thank God!

Make sure they do a fast adapt procedure before giving it back to you

I am not familiar with that.

Just looked it up, think they did that already but I will double check tomorrow when they call...thanks.

mine acted up by thinking that it was overheating. It took me 3 trips to the dealer until they finally just replaced the transmission computer. I was told that there was a bad batch of control modules and sensors. If it acts fine when you pick it up, but reoccurs, insist on a new module

50 codes is a lot of codes. Wonder if it could be the loose ground issue a couple other people have had (I think in the trunk)? Something must have prompted that computer brain freeze and I'd be afraid it would happen again if all they did was reload the software. Hopefully that'll be the end of it but if not, they'll probably have to hunt for the source if it comes back.

Thanks for the heads up.

I hope that fixes it.

I've been noticing when mine shifts 2-3 it shutters , almost like it's double shift into that clutch pack, also vibration when on deceleration in 2nd , anyone else? .

I've got about 2000 miles on mine now and no sign of any transmission issues.

I am hoping with the reprogram that will make mine smoother, mine was rough and not right from day 1, thought I just needed to break it in and get used to it...but obviously that was not the case.

Got the car back today, drives great now, shifts much better! Hoping that did the trick.

Hey Tracy,

We regret to learn your new Camaro is experiencing a shifting concern. I know we have engaged previously, but if you would like our assistance with your transmission concern, please don't hesitate to send us a private message.

I would take it in...my car just never felt right from day one, transmission always felt rough and did not shift properly...then the issue happened the other day, after the ECM and TCM were reflashed, it is much, much better...night and day! Hoping that takes care of the issues for good. Also someone mentioned about a bad batch of TCMs in earlier builds.
