I 've never noticed that my ZL1 has the shift lights on the HUD when in manual shift mode lool! I will try that next time I drive the car!

I don't see the shift lights on my 24 1LE hud, what am I missing?

Shift lights probably only display on the auto 1LE when the shift lever is in the manual position and rpms get close enough to redline, above 5000 or even higher.

If you can't see them even then, something's up and you probably have other electrical glitches as well---is this the only weirdness with the car?

I got the Auto.
With TC off, stability off, in track mode, HUD in the performance mode, gear lever in manual mode (D and then to the left), full throttle near redline, and yet it doesnt show the shift lights nor does it show the current gear.


Though there are no other electrical shenanigans going on at all. Just that!

My 2021 "vanilla" 2SS (M6) didn't have them, but my 2023 2SS 1LE (M6) does have them. They don't light up until maybe 3500 or 4000+ RPM? I'm sure the exact number (and it's in winter storage now) but it's not like they are always on, if that helps. They turn on more on the mid to top end of the RPM range.

I haven't driven a A10 though, so I'm not sure with the paddles.

I will echo the annoyance how GM nerf'fed this feature from the SS. There isn't anything in the manual that I could find that explains it when it does or doesn't exist. I was annoyed and couldn't find or understand why they didn't exist on the SS.

Another is Launch Control. Even with my 2SS 1LE, I can't find the adjustable Launch Control menu for the life of me. Maybe it's a ZL1 thing, but I don' think so. Super small in the long run, but I wish I knew what is or isn't included with my car and why! I can't get my cruise control settings to show on the HUD either, which REALLY doesn't matter, but the manual (page 104) says it should. Oh well.

Exactly, my 2SS does not have the shift lights or the programmable launch control. These are software features that take 0 hours to add, because they are already there, in fact, disabling them on the 2SS, presumably by adding feature switches or build options, must have taken extra work.

Minuscule first world problems? For sure, but given how many of these stupid compromises were built into the product, overtly or behind the scenes, is enough to slowly build resentment towards the entire company.

(Another example is the passenger side mirror that is non-dimmable, so I still get blinded at night by vehicles to my right, the dimming option only applies to the driver side and rear view mirrors. Yet another one is requiring an OnStar subscription for the phone app to work. Or, simply stupid decisions such as forcing me to hold down seat memory buttons instead of just pressing them once to recall positions, or only allowing remote window down, not up operation.)

The irony is that in the case of shift lights and launch control, they didn't even save any money (again, they explicitly had to add trim specificity, which is more work and time). GM would probably think who cares about the 20,000 Camaros they sell a year, whatever their owners say, but this goes beyond that even just with me: wifey will soon need a new vehicle, and a CT4-V or CT5-V would be on the table but now I won't even entertain the idea; daughter needed a daily beater, I bought her a Nissan; more kids are on their way to independence, but GM is not a realistic option I consider anymore.

If they nickel and dimed the Camaro this way, they must be doing the same or worse with the trucks and SUVs, and I won't pad their pockets. Please don't tell me all this was necessary to offer the Camaro at a low price, because it isn't true, now less than ever with nearly $100K Camaros on lots, but even when I bought my 2SS in 2018 for $45,000, GM made a sweet chunk of profit on it, plus I also don't think I want to subsidize their recent corporate nonsense.

I thought they added the launch control to 2019+ SS models? Unfortunate that it wasn’t included from the beginning but I’m fairly certain 2019+ SS have launch control and line lock like the ZL1’s

I wish I had my car, this would’ve been the perfect test as I’m 2SS 1LE A10 but don’t think I’ll be getting it back this week as the dealer’s offered me a rental starting tomorrow

I do technically have the launch control, but not the adjustable settings menu that lets you change the RPM it holds at. GM calls it the "Custom Launch Control" on page 182 of the manual. The menu that allows you to change the RPMs and slip for the car launch at. So I think you're right, that 2019+ SS do have the "standard" / dummy launch control that just holds at 4500 (or something?) RPM.

Line lock is another thing. I can't figure out line lock nor find the settings page for it in my 2SS 1LE (M6) for the life of me. Is that just a ZL1 thing? I'm probably getting off topic now, so I'll stop. But this is a soap box I have been building for a bit and not being able to find these little features (or missing features) bug me.

My first 2SS was a convertible, so I thought maybe that at some to do with it. The convertibles didn't have some of the extra coolers (i.e. it didn't have the transmission cooler) so maybe that's why they changed some things. But really, without someone like Al or a GM engineer to go down these rabbit holes with us, we will never really know.

Glad I'm not the only one that feels this way!
