Well they got super busy as usual and the head cam install got pushed back to next week. They did send the heads out to get them milled .030 so that compression will be 13:1

How is the fitment on your track wheels on the front?

On the front it is fine with a 5MM spacer when I run the pirelli slicks.. I also run AZENIS RT660 (TW200) tire size 315 30 18 and with those I am going to try a 15MM spacer because I am getting a little rub with the tire on the inside on the strut itself on the fronts using the 5MM spacer. Probably best to stay with 305 width on front. I am test fitting all of that now

Update on Engine Work
Well at the SCCA Track Day and TIME trial last weekend I basically blew the engine up (lol). So basically we wont be putting a CAM and HEADS on THIS engine. I broke the TWO adjacent Rods in back of the engine.
For those unfamiliar, the rods get the most force or stress on them when the car is De-Accelerating. There is a stretching force on the rods and over a period of time and this can weaken the rod. So forged rods and rotating assembly are desirable even if the engine produces just a moderate amount of power. What aggravates the situation is the constant high revving range that can occur when using an A10 tranny in TRACK or SPORT mode. The engine RARELY sees less than 4500 RPM even in the tightest of corners. This happened in the first lap in the first session last weekend. Fortunately I pulled the car immediately off the track and no oil was spilled on the track surface. So in order to make lemonade out of lemons, it gave me the excuse to go ahead and get an LME 416 with forged rotating assembly with ARP studs, 13:1 compression yada yada yada Should have that engine installed NEXT week. I will post up POWER numbers at that time.

Bummer to hear with the motor! I looked at my data and my average RPM around the track is 5100 with an M6. It's so hard to leave my stock, but the warranty is too nice to have right now and if I modify the motor, I think the way to go is exactly what you are doing.

So I will try next an 8MM spacer setup and check the tire poke situation out. The RT660s DONT come in a 305 30 18 size which would be perfect using just the original 5MM spacer.

Found this thread recently and have been following. Huge bummer about the motor. I've got a 2016 SS with very similar suspension and brake mods. My main concern has been long term motor reliability. I only have 23k miles, but was already looking at a Katech or Vengeance Racing NA build with a focus on strength instead of power. Looking forward to reading about your experience with the Katech solution.
Do your seat belts do the ratchet lock trick? My driver's side does not. |

I fully expected that THIS motor had also BROKEN some valve springs as well but we found that I broke the back TWO rods in the motor (#7 and #8 hole). The failure was catastrophic needless to say. The LT1 uses a non-forged rod so perhaps if I had a ZL1 with forged rotating assembly, the rods would have survived. Anyway the replacement LME 416 engine will be many times stronger than the LT1 or LT4 is so I should be good to go. I specified ARP rod bolts and studs. Power on an ENGINE dyno should be about 700HP according to Brian at LME. AMP (www.advancedmodernperformance.com) is actually the one that is doing the NA build on my car and they exclusively use LME (www.latemodelengines.com) as their engine supplier.
