Oh it was up the back too. Think its a combination of the exhaust and these brakes dust like a mother!

Brake dust on the sides, and yes these engines run rich as hell. I have NPP exhaust as well with fuse pull, the outsides get major carbon every two days. It's normal. Welcome to GM.

It looks worse in person you can see one is clean and one has carbon build up on it on each side. And its been one day.

If you have your fuse pulled, the exhaust tips on the outer sides of the car will get black waayyyyy before the inner tips do. Happens to everyone. Exhaust always takes the path of least resistance

Grime=normal
Black smoke out the exhaust = not normal
When I say black smoke could be an issue and needs to be checked, Im referring to seeing actual black smog coming out of the pipes. Not the residue you are showing on your pipes.

If you want spotless pipes all the time you're gonna need to get an electronic car

I was a tech at honda and acura for years before I switched to planes not long ago so not too familiar with the american stuff as to what is acceptable and what is not. I know these things aren't built to the tolerances the jap cars are. Just seeing if its normal for you guys too. That's just why I'm asking. I understand every car will have residue leaving the exhaust. My 454 mag in my boat never left any residue or soot on the transom however other people had issues with their transom getting black from the exhaust and that was not normal. When my buddy was working at chevy he said he saw some come off the truck with rod knock and some with bad diffs that needed to be replaced before even being put on the lot. I didn't care this is the car I always wanted just need to adjust to being back in an american car that kicks a$$!

This.

I can't believe this is even a thread.

Also, I can't believe you took the car with that many miles.

Yup it is what it is I guess.
They said it was coming from a dealer north of them. How north is what they didn't tell me until I showed up to pick it up and saw the miles but when your dream car is sitting in front of you with everything you wanted it was hard to say no.

He never specified whether or not it was specifically traded for him... If it was, ofcourse he would take it if he wanted it to begin with...

The soot is the tune on the car and nothing else. They are set rich for safety reason with the motor. Thats why a tune makes power, lean it out and adjust timing. Its not a bad thing.
