275's on RS wheels

Due for 2nd round of replacements on my RS V6 and was wondering if anyone has done a 275/35 on the rear on a stock RS rim keeping the stock size 245's up front. Yes i'm aware its not ideal and an SS wheel would be best but was curious if anyone has ran it and if it didn't bulge too much.

I've ran a 275 on a 8.5" wheel before, but not on the Camaro. Regardless the same principal applies. It's gonna buldge a good bit, and be worse in wear, handling, etc... but yes it will fit. Something else to keep in mind if you're doing this for just a wider look. It physically won't be as wide as it would if it were the proper 9.5" wheel. Just keep that in mind

I run a 275/35R20 all around on a 9.5" rim. Here's a size guide. I personally wouldn't recommend it because you risk damage to the tire if it suddenly collapses.

Ultimately it's up to the shop and if they can get it on, but there's a good chance the bead won't set. That's a good bit of bulge with not a lot of sidewall. It likely won't look quite right either.

I'll be mounting it, with it being only half an inch on each sidewall and that I've seen those with SS's run them on the front. I know they will physically fit. I'm aware it's not ideal and some wear may be accelerated, I'm mainly looking for how they will look being a 35 sidewall. The cost between the 275 and 245 is virtually the same and having the extra traction would help. I see those with SS's putting 305's on a SS rear wheel so it's the same basic concept.

Something else to note is that not all tires are actually the same size even if they have same listed dimensions. Case in point, was a 315 BFG to a 315 Nitto. Both were identical in every listed aspect, but the BFG was a lot wider

Before doing this, I'd look around in the classifieds for cheap takeoff SS rear wheels that match your look. 275 on a 8.5" wheel is ill-advised.

Trust me I'm aware an SS wheel would be ideal but nearly impossible to find. I was just asking if anyone had done it on a RS rim is all. 275's on a 8.5 are done often on other cars, I was just asking about our specific rims. Guessing from the replies it has not so I may order in a set at work to try out.

You will likely get the same or more traction out of a 255 that was recommended for a 8.5” wide wheel than a jacked up 275. Keep it safe

As was said before, not looking for opinions on the subject. Was asking if anyone had done it before and how it looked is all.

You refuse to let people tell you it's no good. Whether any one did it is beside the point, your mind was made up before you posted.

I never asked if it was good or not. I asked if anyone had to see what the lip looks like. My point was exactly if anyone had done it, nothing more. And yes my mind was made up so offering your opinion on a question not asked was not needed. But if it makes you all feel better, have at it. I'll post pictures once I install them so you have more to talk about.

No there are no used machined split spoke SS wheels. For the last time, unless you answer the original post your opinion is not needed.
